The place was cute, quaint and adorable. For being small the use of space was designed very well. We loved the animals and peaceful surroundings. Owners thought of everything, great special added touches. Loved it!
An awesome place. We were greeted with homemade scones, fresh cut flowers and farm fresh eegs. Grain free treats for our 2 yorkshire terriers with bowls for their food and water. Enjoyed the seeing the chickens roam the area. A doe and fawn came by to see us. We'll definitely stay here again.Communication with the host was great, quick response, with link for a local markets
We were there for our 50th wedding anniversary. On our very first night my wife developed a gum infection and swollen very badly. We were forced to leave the very next morning. I understand the no refund policy but really thought the owner would be more understanding. Owner response was no refund policy. Very surprised. Also be aware that besides open air courtyard it is basically a one room affair. Really thought the place was larger than that. If the weather isnât nice youâre basically in just the one room.
This was our 4th time staying in the Bird House and we had another enjoyable time. We love the country location it makes us feel like home. This time we enjoyed the York Herb and Garden Festival on Friday and spent a lot of time visiting the Amish Greenhouses. We cook most of our meals to spend time with our dogs but we did order take our from Caruso's Italian Restaurant and it was great and only 5 minutes away so still very hot when we arrived back to the house. We would highly recommend it and of course staying at the Birdhouse.
Staying on a mini farm, surrounded by rolling pastures, chickens, two mini donkeys, and an emu named Ferrari was good for the soul. The cottage was perfect for work, and taking breaks to say hello to the donkeys made the time fly. Arriving to homemade blueberry scones and a dozen farm fresh eggs was lovely! We purchased our meals for the weekend at Central Market, and enjoyed Lancaster and Columbia as much as our short stay would allow. We hope to return, if only to see how big the frolicking calves from the farm next door get. Thank you Carol and Pete for envisioning a sweet little compound of magical and well-appointed cottages, and opening it to guests.
The property was just as the pictures showed. The owners brought us fresh made scones when we arrived, which were delicious. The house was absolutely perfect for our stay. We will be planning another visit. Thank you so much!
Other than the constant sound of gunfire from a nearby shooting range, our stay at Carol and Peteâs âbird houseâ was absolutely wonderful- clean, well accommodated, and friendly with delicious blueberry scones and fresh farm eggs. We loved the roosters and cows!
This was our second time staying here and we love it. The country setting is what we enjoy and pet friendly as well. Close to everything but tranquil and relaxing.
The accommodations were beautiful, the hosts were extraordinarily friendly and welcoming, and their scones are the best we have ever had. We will definitely be staying with them again.
We had the best ever experience before we even arrived. Our hosts couldnât have been more diligent making certain we had everything we needed and we were comfortable. This is a perfect setting for anyone with mobility concerns. Donât hesitate to book it! You will be thankful you did.
Our stay was amazing. The rental was beyond our expectations! pictures are spot on but in person it is even cuter. hot blueberry scones and fresh farm eggs from the property owners. We will stay here again when we come visit our daughter. Everything and Everyone are great! . Canât say wonderful things about our stay. Must come try it for yourself!
A lovely setting amid the beautiful PA rolling farmlands. And loved the presence of the chickens, donkeys and the emu on the property. The cabin is clean and wonderful and just as pictured (except I donât believe the beautiful shower is captured in the photos). It turned cold that week so we werenât able to enjoy the outside space as much but look forward to a return stay in the summer!
This stay was amazing! Everything we were looking for and more. I think the kitchen and bathroom were my favorite. Luxurious but comfortable. The hosts were so kind and thoughtful. Homemade scones and flowers were waiting. The pictures could never do this gem justice. Thanks Carol & Pete
What an amazing place this is. Like every other review, Carol and Pete are the BEST hosts. I didnât realize how much I needed to get away until I spent time in The Birdhouse. Everything is as spectacular as it is in the photos. I would stay here a million times over!!!
As everyone else says, this place is truly as lovely as advertised. We enjoyed the privacy and personal touch (delicious homemade scones and fresh eggs), and would definitely stay here again.
Comfortable, clean, charming cottage. Everything good you have read in past reviews is true. We arrived during the time of poor air quality due to the Canada fires so had to adjust our exploration of the area to inside attractions and we found much to do. Carol and Phil were always available to support our stay and the blueberry scones are superb. Farm fresh eggs made a wonderful frittata. The cottage shows the knowledge of a great host, interior design and expert construction. Then outdoor patio is lovely from early morning to sunset. Great place.
The cottage was anazi g! We stayed a long weekend and took our two dogs. Carol and Pete take great care of the human and furry guests. From fresh flowers on the table to warm sco es personally delivered to treats for the dogs that mi e loved. This is located in a perfe t area. 30 minutes max to everythi g we wanted to do. Antique stores in Columbia were great and somethi g to do on Sunday. We loved our morning coffee on the patio by the fireplace with the dogs abd and then eveni gs out there were just as nice. All the farm animals were a plus and m
My husband was right at home. The fresh eggs were great! We definitely will stay here again when returning to Amish country. It was our first time here.
