About this property

Redstone, a one-of-a-kind, luxurious 7200 sq. ft. impressive Lakeside log home

Picture-perfect for family vacations, holiday gatherings and special events. Exceptional for exclusive Corporate Golf Outings or truly memorable Weddings or Anniversaries

Redstone sits on 1000 feet of frontage on crystal clear 600 acre Big Portage Lake, providing great swimming, boating, kayaking, and fishing.

Redstone boasts a private 50 acre mature pine, oak and maple forest, crisscrossed with two miles of enchanting trails.

Our four season Gazebo overlooks a 350 foot long sledding hill on one side and an open parkland on the other side - perfect for setting up an event tent.

What sets Redstone apart from all other properties, aside its incomparable grounds, is the imaginative design and eclectic decor shaped by a Wisconsin inventor, industrialist and collector – it’s yours, in its entirety, to explore and enjoy.

Not a cookie cutter lodge with the all to familiar furnishings and decorations, every room offers something fascinating. The master bed hangs from the ceiling; the Eagles Perch balcony sits atop the Greatroom overlooking the lake; A Megalosaurus oversees the massive fireplace in the Greatroom. A fascinating burl Ironwood tree reaches for the ceiling of the Greatroom. Everywhere, captivating objects, that you won’t find elsewhere, artfully arranged in every spacious, uncluttered room.

Redstone has another unique feature: it operates on a Wednesday to Wednesday basis for check in and check out. This may sound unconventional, but it has many benefits for our guests:
With a mid-week trip, you’ll avoid the heavy weekend traffic on the main roads to and from Wisconsin’s Northwoods.
You can enjoy the full range of weekend festivals, markets and events in the area without missing any days
Your time on the lake Saturday will be more peaceful, as many others are packing up or traveling with Saturday check in
You can accommodate any of your group members who can only join on the weekend due to work or other commitments
If any of your party members are flying as part of their trip, they’ll save a bit, as tickets are typically cheaper during on weekdays

ROOMS OF REDSTONE
What makes the Greatroom Great – beyond its towering space – is the wall of windows overlooking the lake, the massive central 35 foot high stone fireplace touching the cathedral ceiling. Unique hand-crafted furniture pieces are arrayed with all leather, super comfortable seating. Conversation is made easy, with the mesmerizing showcase of large gemmy mineral specimens and other delightful decor encircling the space.

The dining area can seat up to 20 people, on and at Redstone’s hand-carved dining chairs and tables lit by fascinating Angle lamps from a pullman train car of bygone years.

The kitchen layout with 18 feet of granite counter space and two sinks won’t disappoint the chefs – yes, room for more than one. Appliances include side by side refrigerator/freezer, Viking range, two dishwashers, warming draw and around the corner a large walk in pantry. Behind the Kitchen is the laundry room with front loading washer & dryer and a folding table.

The Activity Room is a quaint gathering space featuring an old-fashioned soda fountain for adornment, stone fireplace and a ring of seating for viewing one of Redstone's TVs and lots of neat Northwoods stuff.

The Westwing is an isolated, but attached, spacious three room area that sleeps three, two in Twin beds in the bedroom area and one on a log style futon. The in suite bath connects to the central space, where a raised executive desk and its surrounding seating is perfect for a small breakaway private group discussion. There is an adjacent outdoor patio with seating and a fire ring.

The Conference Room has views in every direction, in the center of the space is a hand crafted rustic oak executive conference table, surrounded with eight marvelous leather chairs – the perfect place for a board meeting or planning your event. Catch a game or movie on the 75 inch smart TV hooked to high speed fiber optic internet.

High in the Greatroom is a suspended walkway leading to the Eagles Perch, a quaint landing at the top of the wall of windows overlooking the lake – great place for morning coffee, reading or chatting with a friend.

The Sunroom, located just a shout away from the activities at the lake or campfire is ringed with windows and comfortable casual seating. It’s cozy and a great place to be if you want to be aware of the outdoor happenings but be indoors.

The Tool Crib was Redstone's workshop and maintenance area during the five year construction period, it is now a quaint barroom located just off the lake and drive, it sports a long pine bar, seats nine and presents curious items to set the mood and fascinate you - including some of the tools used erecting Redstone.

You’ll wake up in the king bed in the Master Bedroom Suite to a view of the lake through spacious windows, the curtained king bed has columns hand carved of Mexican pinion pine and hangs from the ceiling. The attached master bath has a Kohler birthday bath, separate shower, two sinks, and gorgeous woodwork and granite.

As its name implies The Westbay Bedroom Suite provides a view from the King bed out a west facing bay window at balsam pines, towering oaks and 300 year old white pines. Two large closets and an mirrored armoire provide storage. The attached full bath has two sinks and a pleasing Northwoods tile and color motif.

The Maple Bedroom is mid-level, has a sideways Twin over Queen bed arrangement and sleeps three if fully occupied. A full closet and chest of drawers provide storage.

The Lower Bedroom is perfect for anyone less mobile in the group, it is located on ground level near the Greatroom and adjacent to an attractive bath with twin showers. The bedroom is furnished with a sideways Twin over Queen bed arrangement and sleeps three if fully occupied. A full closet and chest of drawers provide storage.

Influenced by grandchildren, or perhaps MC Escher, the Bunkhouse is a surprising blend of tricky woodwork, space utilization and uniqueness; a loft in a loft, four beds on a slant, a window to a room, a slide and an hidey-hole. Whether it’s for the kids or the Jr. executives, there is room for six – four single beds and a queen. Within the Bunkhouse suite is a restroom with a shower.

OUTDOORS
The landscape blanketing the front of Redstone is crossed with “easy on your bare feet” flagstone walking paths linking the beach area and the home. For those just watching the water front activities, or just taking in the sun and sights or relaxing, are Adirondack chairs, a few yards back is the campfire ring with more seating.

Just out the French doors of the kitchen dining area is a Large Deck and Stone Patio with deck furniture for those outdoor meals – or sipping wine or coffee.

The lakeside “Boat house” stores the water sports gear, kayaks, paddleboards, swim gear and the like.

Calling it a Gazebo is an understatement! This spacious six sided building sits atop a 350 foot long sledding slope that descends to the pine covered valley below – all viewed through three enormous glass sliding doors. The center round fire place is ringed by gliding, swivel chairs so comfortable you’ll find you’re reticent to depart – and if you decide to stay, in a pinch the Gazebo sleeps four or so, two up on the loft and two on the sleeper sofa.
Concierge: At your beck and call, the nearby Property Managers will assist by arranging tee times, restaurant reservations, guidance on travel or activities and quickly attend to any needs- always respecting your privacy.

CHOOSE YOUR COMFORT LEVEL
By design, the massive stone fireplace, thick log walls and circulation system moderate the temperatures day and night for a comfortable feeling regardless of outside swings. But for those days when its needed, Zoned Air Conditioning and Heating gives you control of individual spaces. To keep Redstone cozy warm on wintertime visits two giant fireplaces – one in the Greatroom one in the Activity Room

OFFSITE MEETINGS
Offsite Executive Meetings & Senior Team Building Retreats: Redstone's inspirational setting and decor, plus the numerous activities available onsite or nearby make it the perfect place for a meeting of high-level corporate, professional, or academic leaders.

The best way to describe the ambiance of Redstone and its meeting areas is that it's the polar opposite of a sterile modern conference room, as such it raises the camaraderie of the participants, kick-starts their curiosity and diminishes discord.

You're official meeting is around the large oak boardroom table surrounded by exceptionally comfortable IMG Nordic leather chairs with Comfort-glide system that allows the chair to adjust according to your natural body movements; also 360 deg Swivel function and height adjustment.

For viewing your files, or after the meetings over, the golf channel, a football game or movie, the 75" smart TV, along with the swivel chairs, gives everyone an appropriate view.

Redstone's 7 day, mid-week start allows for scheduling the senior executives several weekdays to "take care of business" then bring on others for the weekend -- plus a day or so, no one gets left out but the leadership group, if desired, has its privacy,

When word spreads that the venue is Redstone and the many available activities, any hesitance as to participation will disappear - your meeting will be productive, enjoyable and appreciated.
