A fantastic nice surprise in the middle of nowhere to disconnect from the interconnected world!
The hosts were fantastic and very friendly. They're both journalists who have travelled all over the world and we were very luckily to get to talk about common places my partner and I had lived or traveled to.
Javier is a super chef with many stories to entertain and recommendations of what to do in the region and where to eat beyond Castilla if you're a foodie!
The place is very dark and some may consider it kitsch and/or different, but the positive vibes of the hosts make it an unique experience!
Highly recommendable if you want to disconnect! go to a rural bar in "El Pueblo" where everybody knows everybody except you! but everybody is friendly and one enjoys oneself and nobody is hassling you because you're a foreigner!
The photos on the website are deceptive. We thought we were getting a stay in a renovated castle. Instead, this was a small local town the hotel was more like a flop house for backpackers
My wife and I, both in our mid 20’s, stopped here expecting a unique experience after seeing the photos. If you don’t expect too much luxury (or air conditioning), I promise you will be amazed. Javier and Malu are such friendly hosts who really go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
I would definitely recommend having dinner at their place (but make sure to notify Javier by breakfast). The 3 course meal we were served consisted of local ingredients and specialities and had wine and water included in the (very reasonable) price.
Javier’s English was really good and the advice he gave us on local bars and things to visit was very helpful.
I would definitely stay here again.
Experience of Spanish hospitality in Roman setting
We had an amazing experience. The location is a real cool Old Roman home. Very very Authentic. Javier and his wife are sweethearts. Javier is an amazing cook. The dinner he prepares are fantastic (extra charge). Breakfast (included) was Totally scrumptious. Javier is very very knowledgeable about his country. Parking is easy and Free. The bar few feet away sells ice. We all slept really really well.
Enlightening experience with English speaking host unearthing not only the local ruins but also the historic value of the surprisingly large village house in which you are staying. Comfortable and relaxing with excellent food. A real treat in local information and insights. The host having not only a knowledge of local history and tourism but also cuisine and is hands on in the kitchen preparing dishes from local areas and supplies. A little hard to find but go to Valarie.
On arrival go to the main square from here with the bar behind you and the church to your left shoulder you will be looking at the entrance of the calle with no 3 on your left-or phone ahead with an arrival time and you will be met in the square. Don't be tempted to follow a computer map.
Stayed at La Quinta de Malu in April5/ 6 2012 it was my husbands special birthday. Javier & Malu met us at the door. Our room very quirky and clean .From the moment we arrived we felt we were with very special people. To reach Valeira you drive through a beautiful canyon to the village. We felt as if we were with good friends dinner in there wonderful dining room is full of warmth not just from the open fire but from them and Mama who cooked the very authentic spanish cuisuine and made a big fuss of my husband on his birthday. We absolutely love this place and we felt as if we were leaving family when we left.

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service
DECEPCIONANTE
