Bungalow Manikou is a beautifully maintained house which has been very thoughtfully equipped with everything you need for a perfect holiday in Martinique. The kitchen opens onto a covered terrace/dining and sitting area which is open to the garden, and is beautifully cool even at midday. It also perfect for evening time. From the terrace there is a great view over the sea to the Caravelle peninsula. The drive and terrace are surrounded by a beautiful garden, with a mango tree, a guava tree, and beautiful flowers where we could watch a hummingbird.
The kitchen is well equipped for cooking and eating. All pans, crockery, and cutlery are all nice to use. Also provided are chairs to take to the beach, two sets of mask/snorkel/fins, beach towels, cool boxes, etc. There is even a luggage weighing scale.
The hosts Francois and Denise live next door, and are extremely welcoming and friendly. They brought over a lovely dinner for us on our first night, and left ingredients for breakfast on the first morning. They were very happy to chat about things to do on the island, over a beer at their house. They also took us on a speedboat trip, with other members of their family, to a nearby island; and afterwards we joined them for an extended lunch at their home. Such unusual generosity.
