Newly updated throughout and with attention to detail, this property will make you feel at home. Located just a few miles north of Leadville, Star of the West is the definition of a mountain retreat! Access wireless internet throughout the house, TV, and DVD player for the whole family. County-plowed roads allow easier access and it's only 30 minutes from World Class restaurants and ski resorts in Vail, not to mention Leadville's own Ski Cooper is only 1 mile away! This is the perfect setting for your vacation! The living room with a fireplace opens to a large deck for entertaining or relaxing. You must see this property!

Please note, the owner does not provide firewood. Firewood can be purchased at many places in Leadville including Safeway and Mt Massive Liquors.

This is a great small rental. Perfect for two couples. Our problem is with the poor WiFi that does not support the TV nor regular WiFi browsing. We tested the signal numerous times and finally asked to move the next day. If you are looking for a peaceful place to stay without WiFi, this is a really nice place. The service from the rental company was very helpful but I would consider another place if you need working WiFi or tv.

We really enjoyed our stay, the cabin was neat, clean and quiet. My husband and I visited Leadville to see the fall foliage. It was beautiful. The cabin is located in a quiet forested neighborhood on the bank of a small lake about 5 minutes from town. We enjoyed drinking coffee on the deck. The kitchen was updated with new appliances and was well stocked with cooking utensils, so we also enjoyed preparing breakfast and dinner at the cabin. There were 2 bedrooms each with a full bath . There was also a futon upstairs for extra sleeping. The internet was not working, so we played games that were provided. It was a nice time to unplug and reconnect. The owners were working with the internet provider to get back online and offered to relocate us. We declined the move. The owners were very helpful and communicated .

Our goal was to stay a few days at a mountain cabin getaway, where the weather would be cool during the middle of the summer and a place where we could relax. This property certainly fit the bill. It was quiet, comfortable had everything we needed for simple cooking in the kitchen and on the grill. The bedrooms were also comfortable and the HVAC and plumbing all worked fine.

Great stay, just outside Leadville

Cabin was wonderfully kept and a great location outside of town. Met all my needs and then some. Would recommend for anyone coming to the are, had a whole second bedroom upstairs that I never used!!

This home was perfect for the four adults in our group. The home itself was very nice and well appointed with views of the lake below. Hiking was easily accessible and it was easy to travel to Leadville. We all enjoyed our stay.

Perfect stay!!

Great location, plenty of beautiful snow! Beautiful views from every window. Well-stocked, comfy beds, nice touches like games and kitchen spices to make it feel like home. Friendly neighbors(we are chatty and met a few on our walks). Groomed trail down the street. No complaints here at all!!

Nice cabin, good appliances and beds. The outside porch switch is out so loading up for hunting in the dark was challenging with out any light. same if you needed to go out to the car at night

Nice, quiet woodsy cabin needs better attention to details

We were happy with our overall stay but not so impressed with the lack of attention to maintenance. Had to grab a broom and sweep visible cobwebs in the corners along the ceiling. The view was great but not as enjoyable with dirty windows and screens. The blinds on couple of the windows were not operable and dusty. Broken lid on the toilet which would fall. Loose hinges on the cabinets. Burnt out bulbs on the deck so not much lighting in the evenings. The kitchen is well stocked but the pots and pens not safe to use, scratched up and burned. The dryer vent was plugged up so we had to clean it before use. The deck is nice but the table and chairs uncomfortable and very dirty. Finally the back door lock did not work, we could not secure the place fully when we were out but it worked in our favor when the code for the front door didn’t work the next day. We probably wouldn’t stay here again but if they can up their maintenance and cleaning it can be a great place to stay. Beds were comfortable, great dining room table for a group of six.

Some 👍, some could use attention

Loved the location. Beautiful view from deck and fire pit area. Less than 10 min to Colorado Trail/CDT Tennessee pass trailhead which was why we chose this area for a day hike. Updated kitchen very nice and loved the layout and appreciated the washer/dryer. There was water damage near the fireplace and mold was an issue. A ceiling fan in the bedroom would be nice. Just seemed stuffy. Trail to the lake was short but very steep/slick with pine needles (yes, I fell). There are remnants of steps that would make it much easier/safer if they were redone. Looked forward to using the canoe, but didn’t want to chance another fall

Perfect spot on the lake with glorius views; cabin was nicely done with quality amenities, appliances, furniture, etc. Beds were very comfortable. Quite a break from the city hustle and bustle, an oh, did I mention the stars in the sky at night?
