Welcome to the LITTLE BLACK SHACK a modern cozy private lake house on the main channel Lake of the Ozarks. This modern 4 bedroom (plus BONUS cabin bedroom) 3 bath house may look unassuming from the front but reveals its hidden secrets as you make your way lakeside to the 55ft wide main deck that lets you capture all those amazing main-channel lake views and sunsets that require no filter.

***NEW for 2024 Check the photos of the BONUS guest cabin located off the main deck. Your private oasis to get some work done or a quiet private retreat complete with HVAC, mini fridge, microwave, Keurig, and a toaster. ***

Need more deck space no problem check out the view from your 16ft wide primary bedroom deck perfect for those quite early morning coffees made in your primary suite coffee station of course.
Located conveniently in Linn Creek you are

The bunk room features a queen bed, custom twin bunks with built in hammock hangout spot and is sure to be the most coveted sleeping spot. The other bedroom upstairs has a queen bed and a private balcony as well. The lower level bedroom features cozy built in queen daybed (with real queen mattress and pull out twin trundle) is a great spot to curl up with a good book and have a movie night with the family.
Fully stocked kitchen is ready to go with Weber propane grill on the deck.
Private dock for friends and family to get all the sun and swimming you can handle. Maui swim mat and Kayak provided. Fancy yourself an Angler be sure to cast a few and catch yourself some fresh fish for dinner.
Being west facing you get that great sun all day so the kids will want to swim even after dinner until the sun finally sets over the hills. Be sure to kick back on the deck and have a cocktail as you watch the show.

Please note this home is located on the main channel of Lake of the Ozarks and waves especially during the high season (Memorial Day to Labor day) on the weekends are likely.
NO boat/trailer parking available on site. Please inquire for details if you are wanting to bring a boat.
Please approach from the south on Scenic Channel View Road. It make it easier to turn into the driveway which is slightly steep but managable.

This is a super cute house it is remodeled perfectly using every space! The deck outside is amazing with tons of seating options and perfect view with beautiful sunsets. We loved having swim mat and kayaks available for use and the separate room outside. The only downside for us was their boat stored at dock (I completely understand that they keep it there and why) it just made it hard to watch all the kids since the swim mat was on the other side of the dock.. I seen a lot of reviews where people were talking about it being on the main channel It is on the main channel and sometimes the waves are big but overall I felt like there was plenty of time to swim and it didn’t stay super rough for a long period time we found the location just fine. The only other thing is you have to take the trash to the gas station down the road it is somewhat inconvenient and very expensive. We paid over 100 for trash. Overall, we had a great stay the owner is super great with recommendations and very responsive the house is super cozy I would recommend this house overall!

The Little Black Shack is the best house we have ever rented while staying at the lake! The description of the property is accurate, the house is clean and nicely decorated with all the extras that you may need! We enjoyed swimming and fishing from the dock. We stayed Sun-Fri, this house is on the main channel so the water can be a little rough but we were still able to enjoy the water while we were there. The sunsets from the deck are amazing!

The property was just as pictured. The house is beautiful and comfortable right down to every little detail! There was nothing lacking. We had two almost 14 year old girls who loved sleeping in the loft in the bunkroom. All of us adults had rooms with beautiful views and balconies/decks right off of them. We spent most of our time out on the main deck which had plenty of space and seating for all 10 of us. The dock was great, too! They have a couple kayaks and a lily pad to use plus we brought paddleboards and floats- so we had plenty to keep us busy right out in front of the house and the water was just perfect. I was nervous after other reviews mentioned how busy the lake was and the waves, but we really only started to notice that on Friday and then we left Saturday morning. We never had any problems being on the lake near the house. We also rented a pontoon for a few days and enjoyed boating to all the nearby restaurants for meals- there are tons to choose from! It was insanely hot and humid the week of our stay, but the house was so nice and cool inside and the ceiling fan over the main deck outside made it comfortable enough to sit out there- which was so nice! The kitchen has everything you could possibly need including a ton of spices and all those little things you don't always think of bringing along. The house- every room in it- is decorated perfectly! Usually I'm ready to head home after a week away- not the case here! It was the perfect location, too.

The house is great! Plenty of room for a big group with lots of amenities. The main channel location can be daunting if you're not used to the lake but we found that early in the week there are less waves and the larger waves on the weekend were quite fun!

The house has been very well renovated, the views were wonderful and the styling of the house was beautiful and very efficiently laid out. It was a perfect size for our family of 6 adults and 3 kids. The deck space was abundant and we spent a lot of time out enjoying the views on the various levels. We had small children with us, and while they were always supervised outside, it felt much safer than other lake houses we’ve stayed at. Chad was also very responsive with questions and flexible as we requested to add a night to our stay after we arrived to the house and he was able to accommodate. We would be very happy to stay again.

Awesome House

Was a huge disappointment to find out it was on the main channel, on a Harbor Hop weekend especially !!! When we looked at the blue dot that VRBO puts up on location for the house on 2 different computers, it shows it being in a cove approx. 5 or 6 houses back, and I was not made aware of address, or that it was on the main channel until after booking and no refund was available !!! Our criteria was for a cove house with a boat slip, the house is amazing and Chad and his wife have done an amazing job with the remodel. But it ruined 1 of our jet skis paint job and sank another one twice, with the tremendous waves that were happing on the weekend! We also had 2 days that were not able to access the house or be trapped in because they were re doing the tar on the street above unit, But Chad did graciously give a some credit for that inconvenience, ( Thanks Chad ! ) But overall great house !!! really steep driveway that has very limited room to turn around and go back out and very little parking - 2 cars max - with no room for trailers, pictures also show empty slips and upon arrival there is 1 slip used and 1 jet ski there ? I wouldn't say its bait n switch, but vrbo dot location was way off, empty dock was kind of misleading, and the fishing was really bad time of year I think ! I just think some of this stuff should be mentioned right out front so people are not shocked when they get address. Thanks, Don P.S. It truly is an amazing house !!! Kids and whole family enjoyed it !!

Best rental ever

This rental was the best house we have ever rented. The pictures do not do it justice. The owners have decorated this home with such detail you feel like you are home. The outdoor decks are incredible. The dock is amazing with kayaks to use. Every detail from kitchen to bathrooms to bedrooms is thoughtful. Communication with the owners was excellent. The owners knew we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and left us a card and champagne. Even without that extremely thoughtful touch, they hit every detail. The house was immaculate when we arrived. We would highly recommend this house to anyone who is looking to rent at the lake. The views are incredible too.

Lovely stay in thoughtfully designed space

This place looks just as it does in pictures -- newly renovated with clever touches all over. The bedrooms and common spaces are maybe each a bit small if you fill up on sleeping capacity, but with the overflow space outside our group of 6 adults and 3 small kids were very comfortable. Appreciated the host's ready communication throughout. Only downsides were BYO shower supplies and beach towels, and you have to carry your own trash up the road. But overall definitely recommend! Beautiful property.

Beautiful modern rental with enough beds for everyone

We loved the Little Black Shack! Such a beautiful view of the lake and we enjoyed having access to the dock and the water. All of us had our own beds and the addition of rhe little cabin was perfect for our teenage son. The deck was lovely and we enjoyed grilling and hanging out with such an amazing view especially at sunset. The only downside perhaps for some future guests would be the extremely steep driveway and the inability to just walk out the door and take a walk or bike ride due to the hilly and windy and steep road. However the home itself and the dock made it all worthwhile. Everything was comfortable and modern. Some of the appliances could use an upgrade eventually but not a deal breaker. Communication with the host was great. We would definitely return and make this our home away from home.

Little Black Shack for the Win!

Great property which is as advertised. Prior to check in, Chad was highly responsive via text to answer any questions we had regarding the home, nearby attractions, etc
 Our party consisted of two adults, two 19 year olds, two 17 year olds, and a 15 and a 14 year old. The home had enough space for all, and enough space to not be on top of each other. The two kayaks, splash pad, and ample dock space made for great afternoons on the water. The available boat slip makes it convenient for boat access. If you are looking to rent a boat, I’d highly recommend Rad Dad’s Boats. They deliver, and pick up which makes for a hassle free rental. Additionally, our rented tri-toon was perfect. In regards to location, Little Black Shack is on the main channel, which allows for easy access to head towards the Bagnel Dam to hit many of the popular restaurants, or head toward Bridal Cave area and find a quiet finger or cove to relax in. Lastly, after a long day on the lake, the views from the deck are amazing. Everyone had a great time, and we hope to be back.

As Good as Advertised!!

The place is perfect for a family or group, plenty of places to sleep and 3 full bathrooms! Kids loved the bunk bed room and the teenager loved the newest addition - the bunk room, attached to the deck- for some privacy from the little ones! We enjoyed the deck in the morning, especially the two swing chairs. The dock was perfect for our boat. Very clean, all the amenities and an owner who answered our call - can't beat that!! Excellent!

Family Vacation

The house was great and accommodated two familys with two children each. They had everything that you could ask for. We only had one draw back and that was have to take our trash the Y and pay $3.50 for kitchen trash bags and $5 for big black trash bags. The owner was great and responsive and was easy to get a hold of. We would love to stay with them again.

Get place to start at the Ozarks!

We had a fantastic family vacation at the Little Black Shack at the Ozarks. It was an amazing house that was newly remodeled and very clean. The deck was so awesome with couches, swings and large picnic table. It had beautiful views of the lake. We hope to return again someday and would definitely recommend it to our family and friends. Our family had a great time at the Little Black Shack. The house is super cute and comfy. Site was easy to access. Unit was clean and ready for us. Definitely plenty of room for us all. We would highly recommend this location to others and will be back. Thanks! 💕 Johnson’s

Pros/cons

The house is very nice, clean, and neighbor was nice. I would love to see something added to the shower floor in the master bath. I slipped twice and my kids completely fell. Garbage is expensive - they charge per bag and type of bag. Friday thru Sunday, the wake is terrible!!! I would not bring a bass boat. It broke two dock lines, scuffed boat pretty good, and broke fishing poles. We did follow the recommendations from the owners on how to park the boat and the neighbor warned us.
