The cabin is a compact living space measuring 20 m² plus a patio. It features two 80-cm beds that can be pushed together to form a 160-cm bed if you’d like to snuggle up a bit. The cottage also has a sleeper sofa that can accommodate two adults. The cottage is primarily intended for 2 people or 2 adults plus one child.
The cottage was completely renovated in 2026 and features a fully equipped kitchen, a fully tiled bathroom with a shower and toilet, a small kitchen table, and two chairs. Concrete slab on grade with underfloor heating.

OTHER HOUSES
The house is located on a lot with a second house; all houses face the lake, and you’ll have plenty of privacy. You might see other guests heading to the water to fish. Most of my guests are couples looking for a getaway to relax.
GRILL
The house has a simple grill for use during the warmer months. Charcoal and lighter fluid are not provided—please bring your own if you’d like to grill!
TOWELS & BED LINENS
Sheets, a comforter, and 2 pillows per bed are included. Towels are also included—1 hand towel and 1 shower towel per person. 1 dish towel for the kitchen. We don’t use fabric softener when washing our towels (to save the planet :) For some guests, this is a big deal; for us, not at all :) We don’t provide any extra towels (this isn’t a hotel :)
LOCATION
Near the house is a large outdoor area for running in the summer and cross-country skiing in the winter... or you can simply ski or walk right out onto the frozen lake. The house isn’t in the “wilderness”—Luleå is just a 5-minute drive away—but I’m mentioning this because some guests expect total seclusion. Easy to reach by car in both summer and winter. Parking right next to the house. The house is just as great in summer as it is in winter. Underfloor heating, hot water, a fireplace, wonderful views—cozy and comfortable!
NORRSKEN
Luleå is a great place to see the Northern Lights. The Northern Lights season runs from September through March. When the Northern Lights dance across the sky, you can simply step out onto the frozen lake in front of the house and look north.
Guest Access
EASY TO REACH BY BUS & CAR
You don’t need a car to reach this Airbnb. If you’re arriving at Luleå Airport, the bus to town (4 or 104) takes about 20 minutes. In town, transfer to bus 223; the ride takes 15 minutes. Once you’re in town, you can buy groceries right at the bus station, so you don’t need to stop along the way. Buses run from early morning (6 a.m.) until evening (these are regular hours; schedules may vary on weekends, Midsummer, Christmas, etc.). There’s also a convenience store 2 km from the house that’s open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and a pizzeria if you don’t feel like cooking. If you rent a car at the airport, it will take you 20 minutes to reach the house.
GETTING TO THE HOUSE BY CAR
Getting to the house by car or bus is very easy. Once your reservation is confirmed, you’ll receive very detailed information on how to get to the property.
RESTAURANTS & BARS
Since many international companies have established themselves in Luleå, there is now a good selection of restaurants, pubs, cafés, and cocktail bars. The local pub, The Bishops Arms, has 34 beers on tap and its own microbrewery.
SPRING
Spring begins in March, but there’s still snow on the ground and ice on the lake. Spring is a wonderful time of year up here, with sunny days, great skiing, and warm air. In May, the forest begins to turn green again, and you can once more hike along the old trails. It’s enough to bring a tear to your eye after a long winter hibernation :)
SUMMER
Summer begins in June; in the summer, Luleå really comes to life, many restaurants and pubs offer outdoor seating, and people from all over Scandinavia (and the world) come to enjoy some long-awaited sunshine. Luleå also has a beautiful archipelago with islands scattered throughout the Lule River delta. In the summer, small tour boats run routes to the islands; some are inhabited and feature restaurants and beaches, while others are protected nature reserves with a rich variety of birdlife. Take the boat in the morning and come back in the afternoon! Of course, you can swim in the lake right from the garden (is it too cold? “Cheat” and take a sauna before you jump in :) – or go explore the many other beaches in the Lule River delta. Fishing, kayaking, and days when the sun never sets. Sensitive to light when you sleep? Bring a sleep mask!
WINTER
There’s plenty to do in the winter, too! Local companies offer dog sledding, snowmobile tours, and more. You can also enjoy many activities right from the house. Just 200 m from the house, you’ll find groomed cross-country ski trails (Ormberget). For downhill skiing, Luleå offers shorter slopes. If you want to try downhill skiing, this is an excellent opportunity to learn, but if you’re expecting long slopes, it’s better to go to the Alps. Sweden is flat, and our “mountains” are more like hills by international standards.
WINTER LIFE
In the winter, the city of Luleå prepares a 4-kilometer-long “ice road.” Rent skates or borrow a kick sled, and you can even reach some of the nearby islands! Out on the ice, the City of Luleå has set up picnic areas with free firewood. Bring some hot dogs and cook your own lunch on the ice! In winter, the days are short. The sun rises at 8:30 a.m. and sets at 2:00 p.m. Temperatures range from -5°C to -25°C. The ice rink opens when ice conditions permit.
SNOW, CARS, GETTING AROUND
The hill leading up to the house is quite steep, so if you’re booking during the winter, a 4WD vehicle is recommended. A two-wheel-drive vehicle is fine, but on days when it’s really slippery, you might run into trouble. Call me if that happens, and I’ll take care of it.
PETS
I allow pets, and I don’t charge any extra fee for accommodating them. I have a dog myself. I love animals. When you bring a pet, you’ll need to keep the house a little cleaner. No pets on the furniture, and you’re responsible for vacuuming after you leave before you check out to make sure no pet hair is left behind. If you’re bringing a dog, please bring a dog bed or a dog blanket so your furry friend has a natural place to sleep. I really want this to work out, so please handle this responsibly so I don’t have to ban pets. Thank you! :)
Other things to note
THE COTTAGE
The cottage is a compact space but has everything you need. Check out the floor plan in the photo gallery for details.
CHECK-OUT PROCEDURE / BASIC CLEANING
When you book, you agree to perform a basic cleanup: wash the dishes, wipe down the stovetop, countertop, and inside the refrigerator, replace burned-out light bulbs, and take out the recyclables. We charge a small cleaning fee; this doesn’t quite cover the time it takes us to wash, dry, fold, make the beds, vacuum, and clean the bathrooms. We help each other out and keep the cleaning fee at a reasonable level—good for everyone!
EASY SELF-CHECK-IN
For your convenience, the house is set up for easy self-check-in. Check-in is from 3:00 PM until whatever time you like, but after 10:00 PM I may not be able to help you if you have any questions.
LOCATION
The house is located near a residential area in a fantastic setting. There’s a road leading to town—I’m just mentioning this because some guests have expected total seclusion and to be living in the wilderness—it’s a 5-minute drive from town: nature + “city life.” We really like the road—without it, we wouldn’t be able to get anywhere ;)
BOOKING ON BEHALF OF SOMEONE ELSE
If you’re booking on behalf of someone else: At least one of the guests must be included in the booking and have a valid Airbnb account. I must be able to communicate directly via the Airbnb app with at least one guest staying in the house—as per Airbnb’s policy. If you book and haven’t included one of the guests staying in the house, I’ll give you a chance to fix it, and if you don’t, I’ll cancel the reservation. Guests who don’t understand how to use the app are the ones most likely to break the rules and leave bad reviews because they simply don’t understand.
LARGE VEHICLES
If you’re arriving in an RV, a large truck, or towing a trailer, please contact me and I’ll let you know where to park so you don’t block other guests. Do not park in the garden.
BEACH
On the opposite side of the lake, there is a small public beach. On summer days, there may be children playing and people swimming.
BED LINENS AND TOWELS
Bed linens and towels are included in the price. Towels are washed with detergent but without fabric softener to help save the planet. Please DO NOT WIPE OFF MAKEUP with the towels—not even “water-soluble” makeup—as it leaves permanent stains. If you wear makeup, remember to bring your own makeup remover pads.
BOOKING FOR AN EMPLOYEE
If you have a company booking for your employees: If your employee is a man who thinks this is a hotel where you can just leave everything dirty because you’ve paid for it and don’t care about the house rules: Please book another place.
