We went off season and there was no parking in the garage for our building. We had to make a spot on the hill outside. I don’t know how they handle all the cars for ski season.

Review is for summer of 2025. Hotel and surrounding area is not crowded. Very quiet and relaxing atmosphere. By 5 pm, the immediate surrounding area is mostly empty. Most shopping and dining options are located in Mammoth Lakes (15 minutes drive from hotel). In the day time, there are many outdoor activities available to hotel guests of all ages. A bus stop in front of the hotel has hourly shuttles that can take guests to nearby attractions between the hotel and Reds Meadow. Hotel has all the basic amenities. Pool, jacuzzi, exercise room, restaurant, snack shop, etc. Parking is free for hotel guests. (Area around parking lot is not fully paved, which may be a concern for those with wheelchair.)

The Mammoth Mountain Inn restaurant has absolutely delicious food but the service is absolutely awful. There is no tea or coffee bar for guests, the water in the lobby is not consistently filled or iced. And everything in the general store is outrageously priced. It's infuriating paying $7 for a half liter bottle of water when you pay a $50 resort fee per person. All in all, too expensive and not centrally located.

Very Underwhelming Stay

The hotel was severely underwhelming. As soon as we stepped into the hallway from the parking grave we knew we were in for a disappointing experience. Every surface in the building was in disrepair or in need of cleaning. The room also did not have AC, which I didn’t realize beforehand was an option. There was obvious water damage in the corner of the wall at the ceiling as well as dry rot/termite damage around the window sill. The carpets were stained and dirty and the restroom in general wasn’t as clean as we would normally expect.

The cons: Property was old and reminded me of military barracks. No AC which was ok because the weather was not too hot. The rooms and hallway had old dirty looking carpets. Our Mini fridge was missing a leg so it would not close properly. The dresser had wood shimmies in place to keep it level. No microwave in the room, you had to go to the main laundry area to use the one they had. Pros: the bed was comfortable. They had an area to do laundry if needed and they had a pool and four separate jacuzzi sections you could use. They were all functional but were showing there age.

The staff (Marcus) was very accommodating and friendly. The lobby decor reminded me of The Shining but it's totally appropriate for the snowy, isolated mountain surroundings and I, for one, liked it. Our room was clean but I did see a mouse scamper up the wall in the lobby area, which again is probably to be expected in the mountains. The altitude definitely got to us and we had trouble sleeping. Overall, though, it's a good deal for what you pay.
