We had a wonderful time in the keys. The home was beautiful. The location was fantastic. Clean upon arrival. Property manager is responsive. We love the keys and may stay in different locations. But if we choose Marathon again? Definitely checking this property first.

Our family of 8 adults age range 28-65 with stay of 2 weeks. I took a vote amongst each person — The votes topped between scoring this place between 1-2 stars.Here’s things to note:- The owners themselves are WONDERFUL. Quick to respond on Vrbo, but located out of state. - Being out of state, they have a property manager/team who do NOT have solid cleaning practices especially when charging cleaning fees associated with property.What we found:- Stains over the couches and itching when first laying. - Stains on the bed sheets. Family woke up with bug bites after sleeping. - Black mold on shower curtains.- Shortage on Fixtures/lamps not working.- We don’t expect the best pots/pans, but having pots that weren’t lopsided or dented would have been helpful for such an extended stay. How they addressed:- Family independently cleaned the sheets upon arrival. The property manager did come on site and cleaned the couch after letting them know the following day. We still tipped the team as appreciation. Notified manager of family members itching in beds. He said all he can do is wash the sheets.- days go by, more bites. Found evidence of bugs. They replaced a bed, cleaned bed sheets across all rooms and mopped the floors during our stay. Again tipped team as appreciation of efforts. - shower curtains weren’t replaced because “they ordered expensive ones and won’t get in”.- the short fixtures not fixed, but documented for them to address.VRBO limited on photo uploads

Property is large to accommodate the family. Lots of restaurants and stores nearby. Sombrero Beach very close. House looks dated. Kitchen needs to be better stocked. Pool area is “plain Jane” and not enough chairs and lounges for a family of 8. Master bedroom is hot , little or no AC coming out of the vent.

Amazing Spot

This property is amazing and in a perfect location for anyone traveling to various places in the Keys. Communication was top notch and cleanliness of the property and amenities were spot on. We will definitely stay again if we plan another big family vacation.

Ideal family stay

The property was wonderful for our family of 5. Was nice the kids each had their own room. Beds were comfortable. The three king beds were a bonus. And having 3 bathrooms was so nice. Kitchen had almost all necessities for dishes/utensils. The stove top/pans cook very hot-had to open doors due to smoke from pans on “low”-upgraded pans I think would help but it worked fine once we adjusted. If I have to pick something to suggest, it would have been nice to have had some more basic spices. The grill was not usable for our stay which was a bummer but they said they would get that fixed. The host was very responsive and accommodating. I had answers to my questions within minutes typically. Location to the beach was amazing-we rented bikes from the host and rode them to the beach. Dinner on the lanai with the family was so nice. Morning coffee on the lanai was peaceful and a great way to start the day. The pool was small but still fun. The basketball hoop needs fixing/replacing as the rim fell every time you shot on it, but we still made do and had fun with it. They provided 10 beach towels which was nice not to have bring our own. There were not a lot of other “extras” but what was there was sufficient. Place was clean, in a safe and quiet neighborhood, walking distance to grocery store. Overall, we had a great experience and were pleased with the property. Our time in marathon was very comfortable and enjoyable due to a nice place to “land” each day. Would stay here again.

This place is perfect

Two couples that go away every year decided on this place this year. It was by far one of the better places we have stayed. The location can't be beat. The house was clean and well maintained. The communication between myself and the property manager was prompt and easy. I would rent this place again without hesitation.

Beautiful House close to Sombrero Beach!

We very much enjoyed our stay in Marathon! Mr. Wheeler's house was well equipped and spacious for our family of seven. The air conditioning was cold and the kitchen was very well stocked with whatever you might need to cook. The house is new and nicely appointed. We hung out a little at the pool when we weren't sight seeing or at the incredible Sombrero Beach. The beach is about a mile past the house on Sombrero Beach Road. The pool is small but was refreshing after a day on our feet. We saw a couple of manatees from the dock which made our day! We recommended to the owner that he add a few additional beach towels for future guests- we had five beach towels for our group of seven. The guests before us let us know one of the bikes wasn't functioning well and that some of the poolside chairs needed to be replaced. We had a bit of trouble getting online, but probably could have cleared that up earlier if we were more motivated- we actually enjoyed no wifi for the kids the first part of the week! (Wifi is there and works well- we just didn't have the correct network/username/password.) Overall, it was a great experience and we would rent the house again, or possibly a different house, from Mr. Wheeler. Enjoy! (PS The address on the website says Sombrero Blvd which is incorrect- should say Sombrero Beach Road! That caused some confusion for us when we arrived.)
