Ride right from the front door—Birch Haven is a true Northwoods getaway located directly on ATV/UTV-accessible routes, making it easy to park your trailer, start your engines, and explore miles of scenic trails right from the property. Set on the peaceful shores of Spider Lake in the Chequamegon National Forest, this lakefront log cabin offers the perfect blend of adventure, privacy, and relaxation.
Surrounded by nature and wildlife, Birch Haven is tucked into a quiet, secluded setting while still being just minutes from Clam Lake and Mellen for gas, supplies, and dining. You’ll also be within easy driving distance of some of the area’s most popular attractions, including St. Peter’s Dome, Copper Falls State Park, Ashland, Bayfield, Lake Superior, and even Hayward for shopping, family activities, and the Fishing Hall of Fame.

Inside, this charming log home features a warm and inviting layout with beautiful wood finishes throughout. The lakeside dining area offers panoramic views of the outdoors, while the fully equipped kitchen includes everything you need to prepare meals, including a drip coffee maker, dishwasher, microwave, oven/range, and full-size refrigerator. The main level includes a bedroom with a stunning log king bed and a full bathroom. Upstairs, the loft offers two twin beds and a half bath. The walkout lower level provides additional space with two bedrooms—one with a queen bed and half bath, and another with a full-size bed, full-size futon, and full bathroom—making it easy for groups and families to spread out comfortably.

Step outside to enjoy the best of lake life with a large yard, sandy shoreline, wraparound deck, fire ring, private dock, and swimming area. A rowboat is included with your stay, and the boat landing is conveniently located just down the road. Spider Lake is known for its peaceful setting and great fishing, including crappies, panfish, and walleye.
For your stay, bedding is provided, including sheets, pillows, pillowcases, and blankets. Guests should plan to bring their own towels and personal toiletries.

Awesome Vacation

The property was in a quiet location with no neighbors. This was awesome because we could only hear wildlife. I loved the lichen with all the pull out drawers and they had everything you would ever need. My girls loved the lift area because they had their own space but could still hear everything going on.

Overall well pleased. Pretty quick response when we had a bat flying around in the home. Not all amenities listed that would have been nice to know about. Little frustrated with fact shower door in master bath did not work poorly and we gave up using it the last couple days. Few other maintenance issues. Enjoyed privacy, was clean, etc.

We had a great time at the Birch Haven log cabin despite the colder August weather! The cabin was stocked with any cooking utensil you could ever need and we appreciated hand soap, dish soap, dishwasher detergent being provided! The twin beds in the loft were not comfortable, so that was our only complaint. Unfortunately, my sons who are avid fisherman didn't get a single bite from the dock or out on the lake in the row boat. But that's why they call it fishing and not catching!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: With some TLC this place has potential. The bedding and cleanliness were disappointing, with some of us choosing to sleep in full clothes. The furniture is fairly worn out and some the sheets had spots, no spare sheets were available. The dishes/cookware was a plus. Management did not respond to my email about the properties condition but there were informative emails with entrance details prior to arrival.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great location. The cabin was spacious and had all the kitchen utensils needed. Every morning we had just a glorious view of the lake. I only wish they had most of the lights on a few major switches rather than having to turn on all the separate light fixtures. A very minor issue. Kitchen lights are tricky to find/ partially on the wallpapered wall behind the fridge and near the bakers rack- FYI. It does list that on the fridge, but I wasn't able to see it due to arriving in the evening and too dark in the kitchen to see it. Maybe a tent card on the island stating that? Otherwise a fantastic place that I would happily return to again. Thank you to the owners, staff and cleaning crew for a lovely stay.
