The staff were very friendly and attentive! The ryokan was beautiful in the snow. In the best possible way, we had a great time laughing with the staff over my stilted Japanese. The lady who showed us our room went above and beyond to make us feel at home. We had a lovely time at Shikitei, and I hope we return!
The facility is beautiful. The baths were comfortable with a lovely view. The room was stunning. The food exquisite, and the staff were impeccable. I was able to get a pescatarian dinner and breakfast which was also very appreciated. Everyone was very helpful and kind.
We had a wonderful stay!
The food was absolutely delicious, and our room was impeccably clean with a gorgeous treetop view.
The staff's exceptional politeness and helpfulness made our experience seamless and memorable.
Shikitei is a favourite of mine. Traditional service and ryokan experience. Everyone makes sure your stay is always excellent and once again I thank everyone at Shikitei for yet another wonderful stay
This an excellent onsen inn, fantastic staff, excellent food, top knotch baths, spacious rooms (we stayed in a Japanese style room). Though we speak Japanese, we noted that the were prepared as if we did not sine we made our reservation from the US. Great place to go if you want a truly Japanese hot spring experience
Shiikitei Is quiet and relaxed. The staff are fantastic the food and facilities are excellent. I had the best private outdoor hot spring bath with my room I have ever seen. This alone would bring me back to Shikitei
Thanks to everyone
We had one night at this hotel and it could not be faulted. The only negative is its location which is not the most convenient. It can be reached by bus and the hotel will come and get you from the bus stop. By taxi it is about 35 minutes and cost yen 4500 from the main railway station. The Onsen was really lovely and the food good.
Shikitei is a traditional style ryokan in every way. This was my second visit and as before, the staff were second to none. They were warm efficient and welcoming. Genuine Japanese hospitality. Food was excellent and again the staff were always there to help.
Thanks to everyone at Shikitei
I wholeheartedly recommend this onsen to anyone visiting morioka, even if for a couple of nights only. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful, and the service was the best we had experienced before in any hotel or onsen.
We were picked up from the bus stop with a shuttle service run by the hotel, which was fantastic.
We had booked the room with the private onsen and it was just perfect. The public onsen is also extremely good
The food was delicious also, with their ichibo steak and their ice coffee being very delicious.
Definitely recommend!!!
If you do not drive, there is a bus that brings you from Morioka Station to the foothill where Shikitei is located. From that bus stop, there is a shuttle bus that brings you to Shikitei. It is otherwise within walking distance although it can be a little cumbersome if you are dragging some luggages.
The ryokan itself is very well-maintained and clean. The service was top-notch with a staff member ready to receive you after check-in and taking the elevator to your floor and would guide you to your room.
The food was in the kaiseki-style. It was great. Absolutely no complaints.
The one downside, perhaps, is that there is nothing much to do in the area after dark. There is a convenience store that is supposedly within walking distance. Although you have to walk on a main road, it is not very well lit.
