Hawks Cottage was built in 1924 and is centrally located just a few blocks (a short walk) from historic downtown "Mayberry", The Andy Griffith Museum and Wally's Service Station! Relax and enjoy fireflies and warm evenings around the Firepit while roasting "Smores" in the Huge backyard! Let the feel of an old southern home in a friendly town bring you back to the good 'ol days. (Rental includes the entire Upstairs area. This will also include access to the back yard fire pit and outdoor area once complete)

Great location
Upper Unit in the house was perfect. Walk to downtown only took 6-8 minutes. The house was very clean & we loved the older light switches & outlet in the bedroom. TV’s in the bedrooms would be nice but “back in the day” if you had a TV it was in the family room. Adding a “vintage” fan in the bedrooms would also be a plus. I still loved the unit. Kinda weird that the kitchen had 2 seperate sinks, I’m guessing one was repurposed. Also would have liked to have used the fireplace since it listed that it had one but before using I asked & was advised not to, which was ok, I loved the separation of rooms. Also a little odd that people park any direction along the street., I highly recommend & would stay again. Also recommend the pub with Goat in the name & catch a movie at the Earle Theatre. Oh and breakfast at snappy’s.

The location was great. One addition is needed to have a good bathtub mat and towel mat outside of the tub. One of us nearly slipped inside the tub. Also, clean the grimes around the light switches and doors. Thanks to Mr. Hawks for assisting the key lock #.

Mayberry’s finest
We rented both units for four couples and it was the perfect choice. The owners were kind enough to unlock the door connecting the units so it was like we were all staying in the same rental. The house is so charming and well appointed. Everything you need and more was included, and not just starter supplies! It is in a great location to do sight seeing. Highly recommend!

The house was very clean and decorated so cute. The host was very responsive and so easy to work with. It was walking distance to the things we wanted to visit. I would highly recommend this place if you are visiting Mt. Airy.
