Loved our time at the house. The checking in and out was super easy. All by text messaging. There was a few things that didnt work. The lights by the pool and room with the pool table was very small. But over all we loved our stay. The house was really clean and had plenty of extras. Like a crib baby gates and a little potty chair. The older kids loved that there was a couple bikes to ride and plenty of toys for inside and to use and play with at the beach. My granddaughter loved the sand that was under the deck next to the pool. She played there digging a lot. And there is an outside shower. Didnt expect it because its not listed on the page.
We came from Michigan for a family spring break. Overall a great, relaxing first visit to the OBX.
Pros:
-Beautiful area with beautiful ocean beaches
-daily dolphin sightings
-Direct beach access
-excellent location
-ample living space for 6 of us
-well stocked kitchen utensils/dishes/pans etc
-great hot tub
Cons:
-area over run with strip malls and tourist traps
-no basketball for bball hoop for kids
-no gas barbecue (only charcoal park grill)
-pool table in too small of room (unable to play effectively)
-worn linens
-worn out furniture (gross)
-dirty indoor environment
-exterior with weeds, unkept, garbage
-property management company lacking resources such as soap, towels, paper towels, dish soap, toiletries.
Definitely would not choose to stay at this property again. If youâre looking for a vacation for pure relaxation on the beach an Outer Banks vacation is for you! Make sure you choose a home right on the beach!
The home was filthy. Sand everywhere, the sofa in the living room smelled like someone had used it for years as a changing table; we had to cover it with a shower curtain to block the smell after it made a family member nauseous. There was a large black mold growth in the middle of the master bathroom ceiling, which contractors came to assess and proceeded to cut to remove. From then on, until the remainder of our stay, they left a fan blowing to dry the moisture in the void and the paint with which they painted over the mold. There was also black mold in the bedroom and bathroom air vents upstairs, presumably from condensation from the HVAC. Under the beds was trash and dust balls, as if they had never been cleaned. The ceiling fans had a thick layer of dust as if they too had never been cleaned. After the discovery of the mold, and general lack of cleanliness, two of our guests departed in the middle of the first night after only being in the home for 8 hours, cutting their vacation short of 6 days. Would not recommend this home until serious measures are taken to address the lack of cleanliness and potential health risks. Such a shame.
The house itself was handicap accessible, but the walkway to the beach could be more handicap accessible as we could not fit a beach wheelchair through there to get to the beach. We did use the public beach access ramp next to the property though.
