Staying at the Nara visitor center was delightful and added to our cultural experience while visiting Nara.
Upon arriving we were enthusiastically greeted by English speaking docents. One docent took our six year old daughter under his wing, and taught her how to make an origami deer, while another docent took all our names and made Kanji scrolls for us to take away.
Our room was in a traditional Japanese style; Ryokan. We slept on futons on the floor, had a clean private bathroom and were provided a tea kettle and tea. It is a no frills facility, and has a bit of an hostile-like quality to it, but the room and the warmth of the staff made the stay very comfortable and cozy.
Reasonably priced rooms. Very close to the park, shrines and shopping district. No parking on site. Found a small lot nestled on some small side streets for a reasonable price.
Don't hesitate to stay here.
