Luxury House on the Chateau des Ormeaux's park.

The Vernelle house is located in the park of the 'Château des Ormeaux' (it is a outbuilding of 'Château des Ormeaux') on the 'route des vignobles', near part of the Amboise agglomeration (6 kilometers from the Château d'Amboise).

A bit of history: The 'Château des Ormeaux' close to the Vernelle house was built during the reign of Charles X. The original Château was built on Paul Scaron's lands in the 17th century. Before marrying Louis XIV, the marquise de Maintenon was married to Paul Scaron.

The Vernelle House accommodation is a beautiful 17th century construction. It was completely renovated in 2013. It is a fine example of traditional wine grower's house surrounded by a terrace.
You will be charmed by the subtle mix of contemporary and 18th century decoration styles. The ground floor is composed of a spacious open kitchen with dining area and extensive work surfaces. The living room is large and comfortable with a TV and desk area. The sofa converts to a small double bed. For your great comfort, there is a ground floor WC.
The upper floor consists of two independant bedrooms (Queen size beds) with en suite bathrooms and WC.
The outdoor terrace comes equipped with a charcoal barbecue for outdoor meals in the shade of two lime trees.
The Vernelle will charm you by its peaceful setting with views over bucolic countryside.

This property was the perfect location in the Amboise area for my husband and I to use as a base for day trips to the area castles. I wanted to stay a little outside Amboise, and I couldn't believe this cottage was available. I felt like we were living a dream! This cottage is quiet and safe, but also close to Amboise, a supermarket, restaurants, wine tasting, etc. The owner is delightful! She left us a bottle of wine and fresh tomatoes from the local market. All kitchen appliances were easy to use. All the rooms were comfortable and well appointed. The washer-dryer in the cottage was very convenient. We loved it and recommend it for families and couples. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

Fabulous property near Amboise

Lovely property in the heart of the Loire. Only problem was the heat-unusually hot for June meant difficulty in sleeping as no air conditioning (but fans were provided). Pascale was an excellent hostess.

Perfect French Countryside Stay

Loved everything about this beautiful house. Location - although too far to walk into town, there was tranquility and reprieve from busy chateau towns. (Bolt service available in and out of town),Facilities- All home comforts in a tastefully decorated style. Great to have washing facilities after lengthy travel.Host - Pascale very friendly and obliging.Note: There is a steep winding staircase to upstairs bedrooms but after the first day, we learnt to conquer them!Thoroughly recommend La Vernelle

Living in France

We stayed a month to live the dream of life in France. This house is perfectly located to explore the riches of the Loire valley while at the same time giving you the serene experience of French country life. Fantastic Stay in Amazing House

What a lovely house. Host Pascale is very welcoming and friendly. The house is beautifully clean and very well styled throughout with a mixture of old meets new. Would recommend this property. The photos don’t do it any justice. My only comment is that due to the rural ( but beautiful ) location, it is a 10 min drive ( not walkable ) into town. Would stay here again.

Lovely house, lovely owner, lovely location

This property is finished to a high spec and the owner is on hand for any issues (if they arise). The gite is in a fantastic location to visit some of the best Chateaux in the area and is very close to the bustling town of Amboise which has multiple restaurants and cafes, as well as a lovely market. With our 8 year old in tow, we also kayaked on the Loire (15mins drive away), and went to Gadawi Nord (Go Ape but better) which is 30 mins away near Tours. All in all, we would happily return to this property and this area.

Fantastic house

The house is absolutely beautiful and perfectly located for touring around the Loire Valley. Pascale is a wonderful hostess and welcomed us warmly. The rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated. The bathrooms were large and en-suite with great water pressure and plenty of hot water. Having a dedicated laundry room was a plus. Bedrooms had very comfortable beds and plenty of storage. The kitchen was fun to cook in and we were able to take advantage of the great produce and meats to be found in the region. We will definitely be back, the area has so much to offer. Very highly recommended.

La Vernelle

We have just spent a fantastic fortnight at La Vernelle from 13th July to 27th July 2019. On arrival we were thrilled by the beautiful setting and high quality fixtures and fittings of this spacious cottage, giving it a truly luxurious feel. We enjoyed morning coffee on the bistro table over looking the woodlands with horses grazing below, while listening to the birds delightful morning songs. In the evenings we had barbeques and family meals on the large private terrace. If you enjoy peace and tranquility after a busy day then this is the place to come. The cottage is perfectly situated within the Loire Valley around half an hour drive to some of the most beautiful Chateaux in the region. During our time we experienced a heatwave where temperatures peaked to 43° Pascale, the owner, was quick to offer us advice and extra fans to keep us cool. Some local shops are within a 20 minute walk and supermarkets are a short drive away. The only thing we didn't like was leaving to come home. Would love to return in the future.

Lovely French Experience

This is a delightful 2 bedroom house in the Loire valley. The kitchen has all the facilities you could wish for. The beds are comfortable and it was great to have one bathroom for each bedroom. The view from the terrace was lovely and our hostess very accommodating. The property is the perfect base for exploring the Loire valley. It is very close to Amboise, one of those delightful small towns on the Loire river, and also within easy reach of many Chateaux including Chenonceau which is superb and an absolute must-see.

La Vernalle - a beautiful villa set in a perfect location.

We were delighted with the space and the high standard of decoration and facilities. The bedrooms were extremely comfortable and the bathrooms fitted out to a high specification. It was a joy to wake up to peace and quiet and to look out onto open fields. The patio area was perfect for evening meals and breakfasts in the sunshine. Thank you Pascale for being a lovely host and for the very tasty, freshly picked figs and grapes!

An unforgettable stay

We just returned from spending ten unforgettable days at la Vernelle. The location is idyllic, on the beautiful grounds of the owners' chateau. We spent many hours on the terrace overlooking the meadow where two horses and Gaston the donkey grazed. It is very peaceful there, and it was a joy to awaken to a chorus of birdsong. Amboise with its chateau, markets, shops and restaurants is a lovely town >> we took advantage of Pascale's excellent recommendations on where to buy chocolate, croissants, pastries, and meals. We are SO glad we chose Amboise over the bustle of Blois or Tours: it is a very walkable city and is situated within easy driving distance of various chateaux. As garden-lovers, we especially enjoyed the gardens at Villandry and the International Garden Festival at Chaumont-sur-Loire. La Vernelle was built in the 17th century but the interior was completely redone in 2013. In the renovation Pascale did a marvelous job of combining tradition and modernity, beauty with utility and comfort. We loved taking coffee on the terrace in the morning, relaxing there upon returning from excursions, hanging out there on the day it rained, and preparing meals in the well-equipped kitchen with fresh food from the market. We explored the "troglo" behind the house and walked the forest paths with our canine companion Joufflue. Pascal and Pascale gave us a very warm welcome along with a bottle of sparkling Vouvray wine, and made sure we knew they were there to help if we needed it. They truly made us feel at home. Their property is one of the most beautiful spots we have had the pleasure to visit, and we are very grateful that they so graciously shared it with us.

Perfect location, exceptional property

Our family of four (two kids ages 7 and 4) stayed for 6 nights. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit at La Vernelle. The cottage has really been given a new life. The renovations to the home make it completely comfortable in terms of modern conveniences and fixtures. The bathrooms and kitchen are immaculate and well-equipped. The contemporary art and decor scattered throughout the house keep it exciting and bright. But here and there around the house and the grounds, charming old details have been carefully preserved or left in peace and only await discovery. Easily one of our favorite features about La Vernelle was the spacious terrace with views of the green fields and trees around the property. On several mild evenings we watched hot air balloons rise in the eastern sky as we grilled chipolatas and played Uno on the patio table under the two lime trees. The house is perfect as a home base for vast exploration of the Loire Valley. With our short-legged and tiresome crew, we stayed rather close to home and had no trouble filling our days with unique and memorable excursions in the vicinity. Château de Chenonceau, Clos de Lucé, and the lovingly-kept local playground with zip-line and fenced soccer arena in Nazelles-Négron made our list of favorites. The owners Pascale and Pascal were extremely welcoming and kind. They provided us with a chilled bottle of sparkling wine on arrival and also brought us fresh eggs from their chickens. The children made quick friends with the horses and donkey in the field below the cottage by bringing them chopped apples and carrots morning and afternoon. We were at home at La Vernelle, and I would return in a heartbeat.

Wonderful house in a superb location

We stayed four days and wished it had been longer. This is a special house, ideally positioned for the Loire Valley. Very clean and well presented, with large rooms and all the fittings and equipment needed. It is also especially quiet. Pascale was extremely helpful throughout. We had a minor problem (our fault), which she resolved in minutes of being contacted. Cannot be recommended enough.

Wonderful stay in a lovely home!

We had a wonderful stay in La Vernelle. The home is beautiful and Pascale was a welcoming and gracious host. We opted to prepare dinners rather than dine out in order to enjoy the outside seating and gorgeous surroundings. We were close to Amboise and visited five castles during our 4-day stay. We were able to easily drive to everything we wanted to see. Would love to return and stay in La Vernelle again!

Vietimme viikon erittäin siistissä ja tilavassa talossa La Vernelle. Ympäristö on hyvin rauhallinen. Laitoimme joka päivä ruokaa, mihin hyvin varustettu keittiö tarjosi mainiot puitteet. Pyykinpesukone ja kuivausrumpu olivat myös ahkerassa käytössä. La Vernelle on sisustettu tyylikkäästi. Alakerran tiloista löytyy mm. hauskoja punaisia yksityiskohtia ja lukuisat taulut saavat sinut hymyilemään. Vuokrasimme sähköpyörät Amboisesta ja ajelimme pitkin upeita pyöräreittejä Loiren laaksossa. La Vernelle on oiva tukikohta myös pyöräilyä ajatellen. Pascale-rouva on todella vieraanvarainen ja auttavainen emäntä. Parempaa ei voi toivoa.
