The staff themselves were fine, however we waited in line for an hour to check in - it took us from about 11pm to 12am to get to the counter, at which point we were told we still needed to wait before our room would be ready. There were only 2 people working at the counter. A manager came over to the line a few times to say the rooms "were being cleaned", but how can that be the case at 11pm when checkout is almost a full 12 hours prior? Makes no sense. A hotel as big and centrally located as this needs to do better. This was not a one-off issue; every time we walked through the lobby during our stay, at various times of day, the line was at least 15-20 guests long with only 1 or 2 counter agents. Unacceptable. I guess for a hotel that caters mostly to one-off tourists this is not an issue, but you're probably not getting a lot of repeat customers with service like this.

I like the shower pressure. I didn't like the beds - too noisy, the tv was all static, the air would go out sometimes and it was hot in the room. The complimentary breakfast was disgusting.

Only pro it’s close to Times Square and Broadway. Really old hotel and once you get to your nasty room you get told to get an upgraded room for extras$$ Best advice given by my Bellman Charlie (Carlos really). Willy was a sweet valet guy there too! Staff made it doable!! If you’re a snob... stay far away.

They refused to let me 'check in because I didn't have a 500 dollar deposit - they charged my credit card for an ADDITIONAL 100 dollars. I am waiting for my refund through Travelocity. I have no idea why you would do business with a hotel like that. I wasted all my traveling money - I had NO place to go just an awful experience all the way around. Oh someone stole my phone as well as the hotel counter.

Thank you for your review. We are deeply sorry about the confusion regarding your reservation, and for the financial strain it caused. We are looking into ways to make communication clearer between our hotel, third-party booking sites, and our guests, in the hope that it will prevent surprises like the one you experienced. We also apologize for the loss of your phone. Such occurrences are thankfully very rare at our establishment, but we realize that statement offers little comfort to you at this particular moment. Our staff and security team are always ready to assist when unfortunate events do arise, up to and including enlisting the help of local law enforcement. We hope the rest of your visit went well. If you ever pass this way again, please know you'll always be welcome here. We'd love the opportunity to give you the blissful stay you desire and deserve. Sincerely, Gene Nicotra, Vice President/General Manager

Bathroom was filthy. Staff were rude and dismissive. It’s a shame such a lovely hotel is so poorly managed

The room was dirty and dated. It had mold on the bathroom and bedroom walls. The bed was old and even had a spring popping out of the mattress. We asked for another room after checking in and were told the hotel was full, so it wasn’t possible.
