Some negative reviews had me discouraged before our stay, but I was pleasantly surprised. My husband and I stayed here for our first trip to NYC for our 5th Anniversary. We had an early flight in, and decided to check in early, which was a $30 fee. We roomed on the 9th floor in a corner room, which had 3 large windows overlooking the street corner. The room was very large and open, but we soon found that the bathroom was very small, and the closet nearly nonexistent. Aside from not having a fridge (which can be rented per night- $30?) or a microwave, and the size of the bathroom, our stay here was exceptional. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location in Midtown is perfect for first time tourists. Only a block from Grand Central Station, a few blocks from Times Square, Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center and so much more. Highly recommended for a visit to Manhattan.

The location of the property was great. The rooms were old, ours had a musty smell and mildew on the shower walls. We also had an issue getting the room cleaned. On the third day we had to ask to have someone clean the room at 4pm.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed our location, but regret to hear you had an issue getting your room cleaned. We offer daily cleaning and that should have been extended to you. We do have plans for a guest room renovation this year, and hope on a future trip to NYC, you'll consider staying with us again.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are a bit confused by your comments though as all our rooms have windows. In addition, we have a pest prevention company on full-time retainer and are certain there are no rooms that are "infested" with bugs. We do have plans for a guest room renovation this year which will be a great enhancement to the hotel. We hope on a future trip to NYC, you'll consider giving us another opportunity to host you.

Beautiful historic hotel in a great location. Overall, a very good value considering the location. Disappointed on a few things: water in the shower was brown, water heater in room was really loud and woke us up throughout the night and we were unaware of the additional resort fee added to the nightly room rate until checkin. Hard to be disappointed as we enjoyed our stay, but with some TLC the hotel could be a real gem.

I would choose a different place to stay if I could do it all over again. The location was great but that’s about it. Our toilet wasn’t flushing correctly and they decided to come fix it at 1:30AM. Under the beds were dirty. The water wasn’t hot and the heat rattled all night long. Don’t be fooled by the lobby photos, which are gorgeous, because when you get in your room, you’ll be shocked. No fridge. No complimentary water. Just bad bad bad. I’ve had better service at an express hotel than this. Also had to take the stairs several times to the 8th floor because the elevators were slow and full of people. Skip it. Find a different place. It was close to grand central and time square, but that’s about the only positive thing I can say about it. I asked the woman to switch rooms and she told me there was zero availability which is a complete lie considering they have over 1000 rooms in the hotel. SKIP!

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear you had such a poor stay with us. It seems as though we fell short in many areas. We often do run at 100% occupancy especially during the week with business travelers, so in all likelihood another guest room was not available. Rest assure your feedback will be shared with our General Manager's office in our continual effort to improve guest satisfaction.

Only thing nice about this hotel is the lobby, Junior the doorman and the location. Other than that, It’s TERRIBLE. Our room heater did not work, was told we had to switch rooms, went and looked at the other room, it was DISGUSTING. So we decided to suck it up with no heater in our room, (during the polar vortex mind you) but we could not stomach the other room and lack of cleanliness. So we stayed and was ok with no heat. However as it started to warm up the next few days, our AC didn’t work either. Mold was in the bathrooms all over, majority of staff was rude. Carpets were dirty. Toenail clippings in our bed. It was honestly the worse hotel we have EVER stayed in in the US or out of the country.
