Staff were excellent - very friendly - but bed very uncomfortable/bits of biscuits under both sides of the bed/had to put towel under tap as it wouldn’t stop dripping/looked like blood on the carpet - shabby paintwork/carpets etc/restaurant and food lovely so were the staff again - but upstairs needs renovating - felt like a contractors hotel rather than a seaside stay hotel. Views nice out to sea and the river. Wasn’t expensive but don’t think we’ll stay again!

Excellent!

Comfortable stay for 1 night, reception was welcoming and friendly. We had a 2nd floor room overlooking the park to the rear of the hotel, this was lovely and quiet although the floorboards creaked a lot when walking! Comfy bed and good amenities in the room. Breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked to order and very tasty with a good choice on the menu. All in all a good place to stay in South Shields, the location is excellent for the beach, town centre and great curry houses on Ocean road. We would stay again and recommend.

The location is excellent with good access to beautiful beaches, parks and mamy rerstaurants to suit all tastes. Sadly the hotel had a few glitches. The shaver point did not work and the bedside light stopped working. We were not told that there was no hot food after 8 o clock. Saying that the information is on the website is not good eneough. There was no written information material in the hotel bedrooms about services etc. The kitchen ran out of smoked salmon even though it was on the breakfast menu - on a Bank Holiday weekend! Seemed to suggest a lack of forward planning. This was disappointing as otherwise the nreakfasts were excellent.

Our opinion 7/10

hotel located about 150m from the beach. we had a room oremuim suite with a view of the park on the other side of the street. after entering the hotel and the room we were greeted by an unpleasant smell of "toilet". there is no air conditioning in the room, there is only a fan. at first glance clean, but after looking closer you could see the shortcomings of the cleaning team. morning cleaning unfortunately poor. towels were not changed, they were left on the floor, and a dirty towel was hung on the bathtub instead of a new one. very tasty breakfasts in the form of a menu from the menu. great service, the lady in the restaurant and 2 young bartenders nice and smiling. in our opinion the hotel 7/10

Ok good food and even a early morning alarm call!!

All the staff we dealt with were terrific, helpful and friendly. Food was very good and value for the money. Unfortunately parts of the hotel are scruffy, we were in the annexe, the room was reasonable and clean, outside was very in need of a clean up with lots of rubbish in the car park and outside area. Parking for hotel customers is free and the hotel is handy for the beach and local amusements. The down side to our visit was the fire alarm went of& at 2.30 am and there’s no instructions on the door of the room or anywhere close by, this is illegal ! Disappointing no one explained why the fire alarm went off, we stood in the car park for at least 10 minutes and in the end we had to go into the hotel to find someone to do something about the alarm.

Great location friendly staff

A really lovely hotel that offered restaurant and bar with an ocean view. I had not been to South Shields before and the staff were so friendly and helpful.

Happy

Stayed in the Annex as disabled family room was required and could not have asked for more. Spacious comfortable and had all the requirements that were needed for our wheelchair user. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was warm and clean with comfortable beds. Breakfast was lovely too.

Ok stay little improvement needed in some areas

Booked a room for a Saturday night with it being a Saturday I did expect to have a disturbed sleep with people returning after afew drinks, I didn’t hear a peep from anywhere slept right through until the seagulls woke me up in the morning. The good - really nice spacious room with dressing table, full length mirror, free toiletries, I really appreciated the kettle and tea/coffee/milk in room, nice comfortable bed, really friendly staff, great location close to the sea and town centre, it does have everything you would need from a stay but in an honest review which I hope the hotel takes onboard rather than as criticism is I personally feel that a deep clean is needed, there was a clump of hairs behind the door in the bathroom obviously getting missed if they open the door to clean the floor and don’t go behind the door, cobwebs on the window and behind the radiator I don’t think has been touched since the building was built and no mention of the building work/scaffolding taking place outside my room during my stay which would of been nice to have been notified out of curtesy but overall I was happy with my stay it provided a comfortable stay for my onward travel plans and I would return in the future just a little tweak needed in my opinion

Got there early for check in and was able to access my room. Fantastic breakfast , very friendly and attentative staff. The hotel may be slightly dated but its clean and offers good value for money. Also, is there a better location right next to funfair and the great beaches.
