We had a lovely over night stay. The staff were amazing, polite, Considerate and helpful. Our room was lovely, clean and cosy. Thank you all at The George Hotel. We will be back again.
Step back in time in The George! A throwback to a bygone age, when people were shorter and bathrooms were carpeted. It's a lovely, quirky old building; as long as you embrace the dated decor and topsy-turvy layout you'll have a perfectly fine stay. The staff are friendly and welcoming, check-in was easy, and the room was warm and comfortable.
The car park is accessed from the front via a very narrow horse and carriage entrance. If your car is wide you will struggle to get through it. There is parking along the road overnight but between 08:30 and 4pm it states 1 hour max stay. During that time you can pay to park in Newent Lake carpark, a 5 minute walk away.
Keep your expectations in line with the price and you will have a jolly time!
The staff at the hotel were fantastic and I found it an overall lovely experience. I was a tad concerned about the practicalities of not having an en suite, but the private bathroom was absolutely fine. I did find the bed wasnât the comfiest, but for the price I was overall very pleased. One downside was how noise traveled - footsteps were felt from upstairs and rattled the door, making it hard to sleep (especially with a young family upstairs struggling to put their child to sleep - not blaming them at all, was just unfortunate given the way sound traveled. Would definitely stay again.
Friendly staff , not very clean , very loud music until 12:30 then lots of shouting and fighting when pub closed, unfortunately drug users in the pub and staff were aware
Did not get the room we booked, the one we had was in the atic.
Not as clean as we would have liked, the staff were grate, the beer was good, driving to the carpark was so tight bring a small car.
A very friendly welcome, but certainly this hotel is not 3 star. TV did not work, bulbs missing from light fixture in the room, old incandescent or early type energy saving bulbs gave a dull and dingy light to the bedroom and the en-suite. Unpleasant marks on the (otherwise clean) bedding and filthy grout in the shower. Overall best avoided.
Room was ok.Staff were nice enough. Itâs a youngsters pub. Lots of sports TVâs place packed with youngsters. They were no problem
No food in the evening no breakfast
Not the place for me but youngsters may well enjoy
