Port William Inshore Rescue Service operate a coffee shop, restaurant and bar which has reduced opening hours during autumn and winter. There are a number of pubs and restaurants are located within 9 to 12 miles of the village.

The coastline offers many sandy bays and rocky coves to explore with sandy beaches at Monreith and Craignarget. Port William, known as the Machars of Galloway has been presented with the Pride of Galloway award. Walking, cycling, river and sea fishing and golf are all available nearby.
