Great Price, Location and Owners
Pros:The location, price and owners.
Cons:I cannot think of anything.
Location:There are many restaurants less than a mile away. There are good beaches to the north. The beach at Boco Catalina is the best for snorkeling.
The Modern Hotel Aruba is a perfect spot to stay on your trip to Aruba. The hotel is located across the street from the Marriot. It is a five minute walk to the beach. The hotel is $150 a night compared to the Marriot which is $450 a night. You can walk through he lobby to the beach. There is a larger pool area at the Marriot, but is it worth an extra $300 a night?
There are only seven rooms at the Modern Hotel Aruba with various accommodations per room. We stayed in the Moroccan Room which was fine. Our room had a small TV and frig. The pool and barbeque area are perfect. There are many times when you can have the area to yourself.
The best part of the hotel is the owners, Mike and Amanda. Mike gave us his cell number which we could call or text him at any time. That was very helpful. He is also a wealth of knowledge about restaurants, beaches, rental cars/ATVs, etc. The housekeeping is superb. There is a coffee and ice machine at the hotel.
You definitely want to rent a vehicle for the week or for a couple of days. It is easy to drive on the island, and there is a new Superfoods store that you can get groceries and alcohol. Aruba is not a cheap place for food or alcohol. Do not get me wrong, Aruba is a great vacation spot. It is safe and the weather is great, but it can be very windy at times.
