SUMMER PLACE... classic oceanfront and oceanview condos from THOMAS Beach Vacations
This low-profile, three-story resort has two bedroom condos with plenty of space and comfort at very attractive rates. Each condo has a full kitchen so you'll have the option of casual in-house dining or enjoying the excellent restaurants in North Myrtle Beach or in nearby Little River and Calabash.

POPULAR RESORT FEATURES at Summer Place include a beachside sundeck and an outdoor pool, charcoal grills for cookouts, and a picnic table. Both oceanfront and oceanview condominiums are available. Enjoy a pleasant day outdoors at nearby Heritage Shores Nature Preserve at the end of 53rd Avenue here in Cherry Grove. The seven-acre park is on an island extending into the salt marsh and has walking paths, picnic shelters, boardwalks, observation decks, a boat dock, and more. Free WIFI is available in most individual condos. Parking restrictions prohibit motorcycles trailered vehicle and golf carts. Summer Place does not have elevators.

SUMMER PLACE is a non-smoking complex. No smoking is allowed on balconies, in condos or in public areas such as the pool.

Just OK.

This property was just ok. The kitchen, fridge, stove, bathrooms, sinks, and toilets were all spotless. Check in was seamless and the location was perfect. There wasn’t anything too dramatically wrong with this condo, just many little things that added up. The master bed/mattress was broken somehow and leaned to one side. I had to perch on the edge to keep from rolling against my husband all night. It was rather uncomfortable. The kid’s beds were not made with proper bedding, but rather just draped with queen sized sheets over the bare mattress. Luckily we had brought a blanket from home for my son to sleep with. The carpet was FILTHY. The moment we walked in, I noticed a pile of fingernails in the middle of the room, that we avoided our entire stay. I understand why the owner does this, but just a warning, there is no way to adjust the A/C. It was freezing in there, and we had to sleep in pants and sweatshirts. However, the parking is great. The pool, the walk to the beach, and the beach showers are well-maintained and very convenient. The beach was beautiful and clean, and the ocean was warm and calm. It was a great vacation in a just ok condo.

Checkin hiccup

The only significant issue we had was not being warned about the potential for late check in until two days before we came, and the delay in communicating to us that our room was clean and ready. We were at the pool at the condo waiting for it to be ready, and saw the house cleaners leave, but had to go to the check in office an hour later and request that staff call to confirm our unit was ready because we never got a text. Otherwise, no complaints!

Pros and cons

Pros: complex outside is nice, newly painted blue, great outside lighting, quiet, no bugs, no moldy smells, easy access to beach, condo inside is newly painted, kitchen well stocked, games, beach chairs, nice view of beach from deck! Cons: condo inside needs updating and perhaps that’s what is beginning with the fresh interior paint. I was aware of some of this from pictures- but sofa was uncomfortable and makes a very unpleasant noise every-time you sit on it! 😳 I can’t imagine how it sleeps when pulled out. One tub is stained or finish is worn off so I thought it was dirty until I cleaned it myself and realized this. The nice, glass, patio door to deck had no blinds/curtains etc. so there was no privacy in den/kitchen where sofa/sleeper sofa was. (Probably oversight from having room recently painted) The two deck sling chairs were a nice touch but were very rusty and one is starting to tear. I know rental properties take a beating from weather/sand and ppl, and I don’t mean to be harsh but I also like to know what I’m getting for my money, if possible.
