This vacation rental welcomes up to 1 dog per reservation year-round.

Three TVs (1 55-inch Smart TV in great room with DVD player and basic cable; 1 50-inch flat screen TV with HDMI, approximately 25 local channels and network connection for games etc. in the sunroom. One Smart TV in front bedroom), wired internet access. Cozy cottage with vinyl flooring and ceiling fans throughout. Dining table seats six. All new expanded deck with great ocean view with shower for rinsing off. Covered, paved parking for two vehicles. New laminate plank flooring in the kitchen, den and sunroom in 2020.

My stay was great. The only drawback was the TV was out in the den. Finally got hold of Spectrum and they re-booted it. The house was great!

Worst beach stay in 25years

Driveway a foot of sand, only one not maintained. Had to be towed out of driveway and there was nowhere else to park other than a lot a quarter mile down the road. Oak island accommodations horrible to deal with. Said they would send someone out, we wasted first night waiting and they never came. We asked for boards or something to park on. We ended up using a few boards from the construction site next door. They called the Oak Island rental company to get our number. The rental company told them to just call the police on us. Luckily the contractor took the time to come find us on the beach. Told us rental company suggested they call police and file theft claim but if we returned the wood they would ignore the Osk Island rental company advice. When we called them they admitted that was their advice and that they could do nothing to help us. We heard from renters at surrounding properties the people before us were stuck to. Also rental company admitted owner knew about the problem and did nothing to fix it. We spent hours Saturday not on the beach but dealing with contractors and Osk island accommodations. They were easily the worst rental company and experience we have had in 25 years of going to the beach. Ruined our trip and did not seem to care.

Spring Vacation

First the good - It's a great little house, for a beach trip. - The house was well cleaned. - The view is great. At high tide water isn't more than 75ft from the house. - The deck is big for the house and has wooden furniture. Needs some TLC - some of the nails are working out. - The house has a porch with windows all the way around. Has a sleeper futon, table and chairs. - Bathrooms are clean and adequate -Kitchen - Everything works, well stocked. -Laundry room is under the house so you have to go up and down the stairs. Not an issue for us. Washer and dryer were new and worked great. The not so good - - We rented through VRBO which we have in the past. We always search for a "pet friendly" house for our small dog. The listing clearly states "This vacation rental welcomes up to 1 dog per reservation year-round." After making the rental we learned that there is actually an additional charge for the dog in addition to the reservation, so be prepared for an additional $125. There is also insurance that can be purchased through VRBO but don't do it. The rental agency requires insurance to be purchased through them, that isn't listed either. -When we arrived the AC wasn't working. They send a guy out, looks at it and says there's nothing they can do that they will have to call the HVAC specialist. Late the next day we had heard nothing and called again and found out that the "part still had not come in." They sent out 3 window units. No plugs near the windows in the bedrooms, so they can't go in there. Installed all in the living area, 1 doesn't work, within an hour another stopped. 5 Days later the AC gets repaired. The weather was comfortable so it wasn't a big deal with the windows open but it was clear from speaking with the repair folks that the parts had been on order for some time and the agency just chose not to share that the AC was out. There is a webcam in the porch room that looks over the deck. As there is a sleeper futon in that room it is reasonable that people may expect privacy. It's not hidden, mounted in plain site. Just down right creepy, and illegal. Would have loved to give this place 5 stars, it's a great house, but the lack of transparency about the AC, the hidden costs during reservation, the webcam in a possible sleeping area(still can't believe that, covered it with a towel) just want allow it. All easily fixable issues. I do recommend this place and would stay again, would just ask questions 1st.

Beach stay

Overall the house was clean. There were some issues that we brought to the managements attention and hopefully they will be taken care of. Even though house is beachfront, due to the large dunes you need to walk further down to access beach.
