The hotel wasn’t in condition to be open for business. Still renovating from hurricane damage. Every service was inconvenient. Prices should be lowered in every area if they are trying to stay open. I shouldn’t have to pay premium prices for the mess we were forced to stay with. The staff was very nice. Nothing else was worth the stay. I don’t recommend any facet of this hotel to anyone. I don’t think I would even take my dog there. The atmosphere smelled of dust and construction odors and debris was in many areas plus most of the elevators were down. I am 81 years old, and don’t walk too well due to previous war injuries in Vietnam Nam. We were put on the third floor and had to walk through a maze haze to get to the front lobby. The employees often were not informed, and it was an absolute fiasco getting to our room. We were sent to elevators that didn’t work and had to drag our luggage through the halls and search for access on our own. The breakfast was really crappy and without standards. The complimentary coffee was cold and I had to pay for a cup of coffee in the dining area. This was the worst experience I have ever experienced in my travels. I can only think of one hotel that was worse (in NY City), was over run by roaches. No roaches in this hotel but I did see a couple rats scurrying in areas near rooms and construction on the first floor. I doubt I will ever go back to another Marriott. Corp.Mgt needs to learn the definition of “hospitality.”

I was put first in a room near construction. Then I was moved away from it due to smells, etc. I believe I should've been told beforehand it was under renovation. Perhaps the whole hotel should be closed during renovation.

The staff enter my room without my permission and stole my belongings. I had the DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door and all. Come to find out the door doesn't shut all the way so one of the housekeeping staff took my belongings. I had to also switch rooms because the air and sliding door didn't work.

This property is under renovation. In most instances this is a good situation because hotels do need innovation and improvement from time to time. However, in this instance I was not aware that renovations were ongoing. This was mentioned to another guest at check-in. I was in my room around 6:00 the evening I checked in a kept hearing a drill. It would start and stop quickly so I wasn't sure of what I was hearing. I soon realized it was someone working in the room above me. The following morning, around 8:00 the drilling started again only louder. I called the front desk to ask if they could interrupt the drilling for at least an hour or two so I could rest until my morning appointment. I think the person I spoke to was just placating me because the drilling did not stop. When I checked out of the hotel, I suggested they notify guests when construction work would begin and end. I don't get the sense I was taken seriously. I started my day, not well-rested and frazzled.
