✨🌌Peaceful riverside cabin in the UP near public beach, trails & the Porkies!🌲

Welcome to your UP adventure headquarters: *Floodwood River Oar’asis*! Our tranquil little artfully curated getaway is the perfect home base for anyone visiting the UP! It may be best described as a blend of outdoorsy inspired northwoods cabin nostalgia balanced with some of the comforts you’d find back at home (picture snuggly blankets, crisp and cozy linens, a good book, the crackle of a campfire under the stars, and a warm cup of coffee or tea). A bit about our location: Perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, we are situated along the banks of the Floodwood River, which, if you bring along your kayak, you can paddle just a quick jaunt downstream right up to Lake Superior. Or, trailer up your sleds and atvs to hop on the trails just down the road! If conditions are just right, you may even fall asleep to the sound of the waves of the big lake, or stay up late and catch a glimpse of the breathtaking dance of the northern lights! The cabin sits on serene 32 acres of private wooded property so you are welcome to explore, snowshoe (provided for guests in winter) and relax to your hearts content. We are located just a few miles from town, where you’ll find a selection of shops, groceries, gas as well as options for dining out (we reccommend The Squeeze!). We are also approx 20 miles away from Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park including Lake of the Clouds, all levels of hiking trails, waterfalls, beaches, cc and downhill skiing and more! There are plenty of nearby snowmobile, atv and hiking trails/UP adventure hotspots (Bond Falls, Agate Falls, etc. or take the ferry to Isle Royale: for more info see link here: https://www.nps.gov/isro/planyourvisit/ranger-iii-info.htm) within an hour or so radius of the cabin; the possibilities are endless no matter what season you visit! Interior cabin amenities include: the main floor is wheelchair accessible, has a covered porch with spacious entryway, full bath with tile shower, petite yet well equipped kitchen and wet bar as well as a dining and living area. There are two queen beds, one on the main floor and one up in the loft, sleeping a total of 4 people. Also situated upstairs, is a desk for creatives and a cozy reading nook. We have internet service for you to work remotely, but also encourage you to disconnect and take time to enjoy a hobby of yours or explore the outdoors! Speaking of outdoor space: Please observe and respect our occasional animal visitors, including deer, hummingbirds, river beavers, and more! We have a firepit with chairs as well as a trail down to the river, and Lake Superior beach access is just a few miles up the road. We also offer a very large and level gravel area with plenty of room for parking and unloading trailers for those of you who are visiting us to snowmobile or ATV/side by side on the local trails! If youre looking to rent, Hamilton’s North Coast rents sleds and atvs. We cannot wait for you to join us at the oar’asis on your next trip to Upper Michigan!
**We fully respect your privacy during your stay, but we do stop by occasionally to water the outdoor plants, plow snow and take the garbage out for collection. Thank you for understanding!**

short title and a grand old time
Amazing little getaway. Heidi is one of the most thoughtful and accommodating hosts we've dealt with through VRBO ever! The pictures on the sight do not do the cabin justice. It is super cozy-cool, and we found the design/decor to be quite enjoyable.

Perfect UP getaway
Just returned from a wonderful weekend at Heidi and Gary's cabin. We were driving in during a big snowfall & ultimately had to delay our arrival, but Heidi and Gary had everything prepped for us & were so communicative and accommodating. The cabin itself is very cozy and warm in the winter months, with a perfectly stocked kitchen. Heidi and Gary have sprinkled lovely personal touches throughout the cabin which make the trip a extra delight. Thanks again!

Best Property yet!
Me and my wife to be have traveled and stayed all over the UP at many different rental properties, and I can say soundly that our experience here was one of the best we ever had! Extremely clean, bug free, very private, and very clear instructions and communication from owners. We could not be more happy with our stay.

Great Stay in Western UP!
Heidi was an outstanding hostess. Wonderful cabin located central to all we were looking to see and do. To top it off we had a Moose walk in front of us during one of our side trips! Would recommend to anyone heading to the Ontanogan area. Thanks again! Scott and Laura

Extreme relaxation
Heidi & Gary are great hosts. The adorable cottage is stocked with everything you need, even if you only brought clothes! Location is great to the Western UP and we even drove down to Manitowish Waters, WI. to visit one of our old favorite establishments, The Little Bohemia Lodge. The Porkies are just down the road, and Ontonagon County has beautiful beaches. The sleeping arrangements are perfect and the beds are super comfy! Heidi was always nearby if we needed anything. These people are wonderful and classic Super Yoopers! Thank you for sharing!

Great cabin stay!
Our stay at this little cabin was incredible and the property was very well kept and peaceful. Heidi went above and beyond and responded any time we reached out to her, she is a wonderful host. When we arrived, there were several special treats left for us including her families rhubarb cake and it was delicious, it was the first time my wife had anything with rhubarb, and she especially enjoyed it. The extras were a very nice touch for her birthday as well. In my wife's words, the cabin was super cute and stocked with anything you can imagine, Heidi thought of everything! The place is super clean, cozy, and comfortable! There is a charcoal BBQ available, and the kitchen is well stocked, perfect for when you want to stay at the cabin to cook. The cabin is in close proximity to the Porcupine Mountains, Ontonagon, and the beach. If you have never been to the Porkies, we recommend The Lake of the Clouds, Summit Peak and Presque Isle River and try to check out as many waterfalls as you can. We also suggest going to the beach and taking in a sunset. We enjoyed sitting on the porch, drinking our coffee or wine, and taking in the sounds of nature, even had a deer sighting, and after dark looking at the beautiful night sky. The perfect little up north get away. Thank you for opening your home to us. We felt at home here and if we are ever in the area again we would love to stay here again.
