Checked into cabin number nine did not even bring in our luggage holes in the wall holes in the ceiling no working heat absolutely filthy and disgusting
I am not one that usually leaves a negative review, but this property left a little to be desired. Upon arrival, parking is tight. We had to wait for someone to move from our parking spot, but management handled it immediately. When we walked into our cabin, I was a bit shocked. The place looked run down and didn't fit the description. The couch was apparently where 2 people could sleep. Unfortunately when it was opened you couldn't exit, due to it blocking the door. There were no sheets, blankets or pillows for this. The refrigerator had broken shelves and electrical tape holding most of it together, and the door couldn't open all the way. 2 microwaves because 1 was broken. The bedroom looked like it had burn marks all over the walls. The wall had been destroyed by moving furniture and the dresser had broken handles. I will say everything was clean, but it didn't feel that way. The best part were the kayak useage and the beach area. We stayed in the green, which was called the romantic, but there was absolutely nothing romantic about this one at all. I would only stay here again if it were an emergency.
Wouldnât have known the check in procedure until I talked to another guest. Circuit blew and air conditioners went off.
It smelled like smoke. And mattress is not comfortable. Need more hooks!! No place to hang towels!!! Needs a paint job and a Hawaiian theme would add a nice touch.
The view of beach was spectacular!!
Overall happy with stay place needs some work didnât realize towels were not provided had no hot water until was fixed. I definitely would stay again
I suspect Aloha has a history of neglect and the current owners have a diamond in the rough, but there's a lot of work that needs to be done, maintenance and function-wise. The view from our cottage was amazing, but little irritations like confusion about check-in, difficulty with hot water, and the batteries in our keypad entry dying (thus locking us out) put a bit of a damper on our vacation; I am not nearly as concerned with aesthetics as I am with things working properly. However, we still had a great time and the other guests (all of whom reported similar problems) were lovely people. My best friend & I choose a different Michigan destination every year so our return is unlikely. I do hope the proprietors can get everything working and updated, because Ahola has the potential to be a really nice resort.
We stayed in the blue cabin, again with grandchildren. Unfortunately, it rained or was cold & windy the entire time we were there. Of course, we do not hold this against the property. The cabins are basic, a little rough around the edges, but had everything we needed to cook a meal. The TV sometimes doesn't want to work. The bathroom is a little tight. But the beach is great, there is a playscape and there are games available. There are picnic tables, outdoor patio chairs and grills available.
We stayed in the orange cabin and it was clean and comfortable with fresh bedding, but the dishes and kitchen cabinets were sticky and obviously not cleaned. I washed everything in the kitchen before we used it and wiped out the cabinets/drawers.
There were people smoking outside one of the cabins near us and it blew in the windows and it smelled like cigarette smoke while trying to enjoy sitting/eating outside our cabin. There were cigarette butts in the sand and all around the fire pit close to our cabin. The beach toys/games/chairs were scattered around creating a messy beach area and it was hard to find a set of cornhole beanbags because they were scattered around. Sadly, our experience was not pleasant or relaxing as we were anticipating being able to enjoy the beach area and fresh air being right near Lake Huron.
We picked a cabin that stated that it could sleep up to 6, with 2 beds and a pull-out couch. When we arrived, we found the 2 beds in the 2 bedrooms, however the pull out couch was not a pull out couch. It was a pushed together set that didn't latch anywhere between the 3 pieces. 2 couch cushions and a couch chaise lounge. Did not pull out for sleeping. There were no linens or pillows for the non existent pullout couch. Luckily we had an air mattress with us, so we could use that. Someone dropped off a blanket and one pillow for that. We received a text after we had already left, the morning of check in to tell us things that need to be brought included charcoal (not a big deal) and towels for the bathroom. We had already left for our vacation. I think that day of notifications for things that need to be brought are ridiculous. You don't know how far people are traveling from. I ended up going to a store in town and spent another 50 bucks on towels and loofas for showers. The hot water heater was unreliable. Showers would go from hot to cold to scalding. The drains were slow at times and drained fine at other times. The curtains were see through, including in the bedroom, or the curtains weren't wide enough to cover the entire window. The one dresser that was in the cabin had a drawer that was broken off the front from the second we tried to open it. Wouldn't recommend this place for the cost.
Cabins were clean and cozy. Everything we needed. LARGER people would have trouble in the shower and getting to the toilet, very tight spaces. Kids loved the beach.
Walking distance to beach. Lake view from back bedroom and living room. House could use some minior repairs mostly cosmetic. But location to beach makes it worth it.
10 out of 10. The first day we were there, we were the only ones there. It was quiet. The location is beautiful. We felt like we were on our own private beach. There was someone working there. He was very kind & answered our questions while he was cleaning up washing down the kids playscape. The next day when the other cottages filled up, there were kids playing & everyone enjoying the beach. It was one of the best getaways my husband and I have had. We are definitely going back. We want to stay at each of the other cottages. Great place for families or couples. Very clean. It had everything we needed.
Had a fantastic weekend here. We love Oscoda and this is a beautiful spot right on Lake Huron. The manager Chad was very helpful and a super nice guy. Keep in mind before booking this place doesnât have certain amenities like towels, soap or shampoo and garbage bags. It does have appliances, silverware, dishware, and an outdoor grill. Theyâre in the process of updating it so right now so many things are pretty rough around the edges, especially the interior of the cabins. We wouldnât hesitate to stay here again though, great spot!
The stay was amazing, the views absolutely breathtaking, and the closeness to the water was wonderful. The staff were extremely responsive to any questions I had. The only concern we had was with parking, there is construction being completely in the area at the time of our stay so parking was not ideal during certain times of the day, but the property managers addressed and provided solutions to concerns I had. I will be back for another stay.
We would not stay here again. There is not nearly enough parking for the amount of cabins there. There was a very large group there that took over the whole common areas. We couldn't get to our cabin without walking through these large group gatherings because they used the whole common area. The common area is way too small for the amount of cabins rented. There were no chairs to sit on at the beach. Its much more run down than the advertised pictures show. Our cabin had no rugs. Outdoors is all sand; that sand was all tracked in. It rained so we were indoors more than we wanted. The TV was mounted above one of the doorways. Way too high to sit and actually watch something; but the wifi didn't work for the tv anyway. The ad for reserving says that towels are provided. A couple hours before check-in we were texted that towels were not provided. The cabin really only had the bare minimums. And get this-ONE coffee mug. ONE! I texted the owners and they said they'd bring one over. We did not receive it until mid-day the following day when we weren't there. They let themselves in while we were gone! We didn't like the feeling of them entering with all of our stuff in there when we weren't there, but they did leave more coffee mugs. Hot water was very sporadic. The lights flickered constantly. Every dish we wanted to use we had to wash first. It was just yucky.
The view of Lake Huron was very nice. However, we didn't leave our windows open because of the large crowds outside.

We had a great stay with beautiful view from our cabin but the place needs a little upgrade, such as the couches and the lamps. When we came, the floor was full of sand as well, like it wasnât vacuumed or swept. The swing outside had a hanging wood in the bottom, which was not safe for our kids and we noticed people were still sitting on it. It was just a matter of time that it will collapse. The place could use some more amenities for the guest. On the website, it says thereâs a playground for the kids, but we didnât see one on site. Thereâs also only two bonfire available for everyone to use and we were unable to get one since itâs all taken by other guest. Overall, it wasnât bad- our kids and us enjoyed the view and playing in the sand and water but thereâs some room for improvements đ
It was a great location. Private beach was very nice. Parking was a challenge at times. Communication could have been a little better with the amenities. Was told we needed bath towels the day of arrival. I had already left and had to stop and buy some. No coffee filters and the coffee maker had old grounds left in it.
Location is the key! Very nice owner, very helpful. Nice people staying, perfect for what we wanted. Unit itself could use a little TLC, four pillows instead of two, maybe salt n pepper on site, a rug outside and inside so you can really keep that sand under control. Overall though, we'd return in a heartbeat, after all, you're outside on the beach the whole time! Or heading five minutes up the road to the super large and gorgeous public beach. Nothing but water, sand, and great swimming!!
We enjoyed our 2 night stay at Aloha Beach. The owner was reachable and pleasant. We had a clean room, relaxed on the beach and enjoyed an incredible view. We were thankful to be able to enjoy our 20 year wedding anniversary.
