Old, uncomfortable, broken hotel - needs reno ASAP

Pros: Location
Cons: Bed, doors, noise, bathroom faucets, bathroom drains, bathroom cleaning, bathroom shelving, staff customer service training.
Location: Very close to transit, shopping, Parliament Hill, business district, etc.
Really bad condition - tub faucet wouldn't shut OFF, sink faucet hard to turn ON, sink drain clogged, bathroom shelf missing, bathroom door and main room door had to be shoved to open or close every time. Cleanliness poor - hair on bathroom door and bathroom floor was there all three days of our stay. Comfort poor - very old sagging bed and lots of noise from hallway. Staff poor - upon check-in for our anniversary, were told there were no other rooms available at all but in a gruff way, and then at check-out we were not even asked how our stay was. Location is very convenient - if they renovate the rooms, would consider returning. But not until then.

Great Location and Value

Great location. It was in the central  of the Ottawa which was close all attraction And amenities . The staffs were friendly and helpful. The Interior of the hotel was a bit worn down from the lobby to the rooms. Needless to say the rooms were very clean and fresh. Only problem was that our room was  located next to the elevator, we could here the noise of the elevator going up and down.

Will not go back to this hotel!

Pros: close to parliment
Cons: No free Internet, Noisy, Poor breakfast
Over all I feel that its a good thing I paid a lower rate, had I paid their regular nightly rate I would have been extremely disappointed! The amenities include a gym the size of a bachelor appartment, thats it! Upon checking in I found the receptionist a little rude and welcomed us with a somewhat "snooty" attitude. The hotel also advertises parking, on a slow night the parking for 20 cars is fine. However during a city event 15.00$ a night could put you on the sidewalk especially if you drive a full size vehicle! Once we got to our room and settled in, the bathroom sink would not drain. We were givin another room, after insisting that we wanted another. The hotel also offers wireless internet for 10.00$ a day and a restaurant that was never open!

If you're looking for a cheap place to sleep, this fits the bill

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights, they accompanied our early check-in without incident, and were one of the cheapest accomodations available at the time. PROS: Excellent location in proximity to the Parliament buildings, and a shuttle bus to Scotiabank Place is available right across the street, as well as an LCBO and a Tim Hortons one block away. CONS: Rooms are very DATED and very SMALL. Elevators are terribly slow, towels are tiny and the heater takes up half the room. While the location is great for sightseeing, there is NOTHING open around you on weekends or in the evening. Even the Hotel restaurant was closed. Bottom line is if you are looking for a cheap place to stay for a night or two and don't plan to spend much time in your room, then this would fit the bill. Anything more than that I would look elsewhere.

Good location, genteel older hotel, good value

Pros: Free Internet
The hallways are faintly shabby, and the plumbing fixtures a bit worn, but all is well maintained, and a youthful crew of staff keep on the hop thinking of helpful things to do.

Good for what we needed-- busy street...

Pros: Close restaurants
We were just in for one night so it was good. Close to the main attractions. Parking not as convenient as I would like.

Extremely convenient to reach sites

Short distance to many popular sites. Do NOT recommend the breakfast company attached. But everything else was very pleasurable and recommended.

Do not stay here!

I have traveled a lot and been to many hotels and this has easily been the worst. I would classify it as a motel rather than hotel... The place was filthy, there wasn't a safe or mini fridge and it smelt extremely moldy. There was also a $100 deposit that was required (even though I'd already pre-paid my entire stay) which was not mentioned until I was checking in, and they would ONLY take credit for the deposit. I will definitely NOT be using this hotel ever again and would NOT recommend it to anyone.

We are very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay. All of our guest rooms are thoroughly cleaned and checked prior to the next arrival; however if a guest is ever dissatisfied with the room they have been given, we do ask that they let our Front Desk staff know immediately so that any issue can be rectified right away, as we want to ensure that all of our guests have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. We do have guest rooms that can be booked that will have a kitchenette (includes a mini-fridge), which we suggest is requested at the time the reservation is made. For the $100 deposit you've mentioned, we do follow the standard hotel practice that a deposit be given for any potential incidentals that may be incurred during a stay; and accept only valid credit cards as a form of deposit (not cash or pre-paid cards). This ensures that any extra costs, such as parking, long distance charges, pet fees, room charges etc are covered, and provides guests with an efficient checkout. Any unused amount is released immediately by the hotel, and is allocated back to the card; the turnaround time in which the released funds are then available is based solely on the specific credit card provider. We do thank you for providing your feedback to us, which has been shared with all of the department managers within the hotel, and are sorry to hear that you have chosen not to stay with us again.

Basic hotel, perfect location

Pros: Location
Cons: New flooring, paint, decor and mattresses.
Location: Perfect location for downtown activities, and other activities are accessible by bus stop across the street (or next block for east bound activities)
Perfect location for downtown and bus stop, but new carpet, fresh paint, mattress and decor suggested. Could be a 5 star with minimal investment.

Would expect more from a downtown hotel

The room was small and not very comfortable. They offer internet access, but it was aweful. Don't plan to get any work done from this hotel if you require internet access. Bed was hard as a rock.
