Nestled in the heart of The Catlins, Pekapeka is the perfect base to explore the local flora and fauna, beaches, bays, and much, much more.

The Space:
Pekapeka Tiny House is located in the small town of Owaka, South Otago close to Catlins. Nearby Cannibal Bay, Florence Hill Lookout, and other exciting attractions in the area. A comfortable 155 square-feet stay and one of the best tiny house rentals in the area with easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities.

The bathroom follows ecologically sustainable principles, including a cassette toilet with a removable waste-holding tank, hand basin, and shower (gas heated for hot showers) for you to use. It focuses on satisfying people's needs with natural resources and processes to save the environment.

If you plan to spend your tiny house NZ escapes here, we advise that you bring your own food, although there is a small supermarket and several local eateries just 5 minutes drive away. Thank you.

Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the property and its surrounding areas, except the land host's private residence.

Guests are allowed to explore the property, however, as part of our Qualmark certification, they must first go through a health and safety briefing before signing a waiver. Please keep in mind that there are no significant hazards on the property that would endanger our guests and that this is simply a routine from guest to land host.

- Teapot Land is a popular attraction with Renwick's quirky collection of teapots displayed at Owaka, Catlin.
- Catlins Horse Trek is an exciting attraction that offers small-group rides through farmland, native woodlands, and wildlife.

Very lovely property. Quiet, lush, private, amazing birds. Landlord was extremely organized and gave a wonderfully detailed review of the tiny house. Downtown Owaka is 5 mins away by car - and I was directed to eat at the Lumberjack by the landlord - which was amazing!!!!! Everyone was extremely helpful and accommodating at the Tiny house and in the town. Amazing area in general.

Gorgeous!
We really enjoyed our stay. Our hosts were fantastic, and the facilities were great. The hot water in the shower was a bit sporadic in the morning when we were checking out, but had we tried it earlier in our stay I know the hosts would have been straight down to sort it out. A real treat 😊

awesome birds but....
awesome birdlife, Gordon and Jannie were lovely hosts. However, the shower could do with some work, running hot /cold/hot/cold as you tried to have a shower. we stay in January and find the cabin cold when the sun went off it because of the big trees around the cabin.
