THIS FORMER HOME of cowboy and tough-guy actor Alan Ladd, who starred in “This Gun for Hire” and "Shane," boasts movie-star quality throughout: gated entryway, vibrantly appointed, huge entertaining spaces, comfortable mid-century modern furniture, open layout, and dramatic views of the San Jacinto Mountains. Also noteworthy, this luxury quintessential mid-century Palm Springs estate was designed by the acclaimed architect Donald Wexler whose elegant and cool designs are humble and focused on the beauty of the natural surrounds.. This property boasts a beautiful pool and jacuzzi and is bright and minimalist allowing the sunlight to grab the spotlight and dance with the vibrant interior decor. So private and exclusive, this property was selected to be part of the very selective “2019 A Peek Behind the Hedges” Modernism Week Tour.

Marble makes a cameo in the dining room table and in the glistening master bath. Three of the five bedrooms feature their own en-suite bathroom providing the ultimate in privacy.

With 2 sinks, 2 dishwashers, and 2 ovens, Sub Zero refrigerator, the kitchen is not only “kosher ready” but ready for a formal dining experience or just a backyard BBQ. The kitchen is fully appointed with every cooking amenity and waiting for your engagement or get-together.

Our Starter Kit to you is designed to get you through your first day only, it may very well get you through 2 or 3 days as many of our guests will attest to, but our design is to get you through your first day before you may need to go to a grocery store.

Your Starter Kit:
Your kitchen is fully equipped with pots & pans etc., nearly every utensil you need to use to cook with and cleaning products to clean with.
However, there is only a starter kit in each respective bathroom & kitchen of the following supplies:
o Facial tissues
o Toilet paper
o Liquid Hand soap
o Vanity travel pack soap, shampoo & lotion
o Paper towels
o Dishwashing liquid
o Dishwasher tablets
o Trash bags
o Laundry soap
o Dryer sheets

Parking: All cars must be parked upon the interior circular driveway and within the garage of the property. Street parking is prohibited.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
60 days prior to scheduled arrival date, you will receive a refund of any advance payments minus a $300 cancellation fee and any processing fees ModMansions incurs.
Between 0 and 59 days prior to scheduled arrival, no refunds will be granted.
No refund will be given for early departures.
However and provided the guest cancels reservation on the original booking platform and ModMansions is able to re-rent this property for the same rate and same dates, then ModMansions has the option and MAY refund the same amount.

Pool is heated from 5am-9pm, to between 80°–85°
If property is listed as having a Jacuzzi, then Jacuzzi & Pool HEAT combined OR separate has a flat rate of $600 per minimum stay + $100 for each additional day.
The Jacuzzi when selected will heat to 102°.

Policies & disclaimers
In order to keep our homes in beautiful condition, we have a few policies that ensure your next visit is just as wonderful as your first visit.

Age Requirement:
You must be 30+ years of age to reserve any home with ModMansions. Guest must provide a copy of a valid government issued photo id.

Rates:
Published rates are based on standard occupancy, do not include a combined 12.5% percent which includes a City of Palm Springs room tax and a TBID Tax Assessment.

Payment Schedule:
An Advance Deposit is due at the time of signing the contract with ModMansions. The balance is due 90 days prior to your arrival at the property. In complex long-term reservation, payment arrangements may be made by contacting us directly.

Utilities - (stays of 28+ days)
If staying in a home, with its own private pool, for 28 nights or more, the guest will be required to pay a utility deposit of $1,000.00 to $2,500.00 depending on the property. This deposit will be used to pay the actual monthly gas and electric bills and copies of the actual bills will be provided to the guest. Should the stay exceed 28 nights and utilities used exceed the utility deposit, the guest agrees to pay an additional deposit to cover the remaining stay. There is no markup by ModMansions on any utilities.

Cancellation Policy
60 days prior to scheduled arrival date, you will receive a full refund of any advance deposit(s) or pre-paid amounts less a $300 cancellation fee & any credit card or processing fees MM incurs.
Between 0 and 59 days prior to scheduled arrival, no refund is given. Should ModMansions re-rent the property for those specific dates, then ModMansions has the option of refunding the amount we were able to re-rent it for, up to the pre-paid amount, less a $300 cancellation fee & any credit card or processing fees incurred.

Special event weekends & holidays (Christmas/NY/Thanksgiving/Coachella, etc.) & long-term rentals (stays 28 nights +) no refund will be given. Should ModMansions re-rent the property for those specific dates, then ModMansions has the option of refunding the amount we were able to re-rent it for, up to the pre-paid amount, less a $300 cancellation fee & any credit card or processing fees incurred.
No refund given for early departures.

Smoking
All homes are non-smoking; Smoking inside the properties is a violation of your rental agreement and subject to immediate forfeiture of your deposit.

Additional Fees/Terms:
• 3-day minimum stay required. (4, 5, 6 nights required depending on High Season holiday dates and events. Ask ModMansions for details)
• Cleaning fee of $500 is added to all rentals
• Optional spa/pool heating has a fixed rate of $600 per minimum stay plus $100 for each day thereafter. Please let us know 24 hours in advance of your stay. (Not all properties have a Jacuzzi)
• City of Palm Springs Transient Occupancy Tax is 11.5%.
• TBID Assessment is 1.0%
• Please note the difference between High Season and Low Season Rates:
o High Season: November 1 – May 31 Low Season: June 1 – October 31
o Higher rates apply during special holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years´. Please contact us about the date you have in mind.
• Lost keys, gate openers or garage door openers are charged $125 per item.
• Check-in is 4 pm to 6pm and check out is before 10 am.

• The City of Palm Springs prohibits exterior music and amplified sound 24/7. As per your ModMansions rental agreement, 8:00 pm is "Quiet Time". So, in order to ensure a most wonderful and enjoyable stay for you and your guests, please share and familiarize yourself with the above links and your rental agreement.

Internet & Smart TV’s
The National provider of Internet to your home is Spectrum.
Smart TV’s are App based only. You are responsible for your own Usernames & Passwords.
Suggestion: Bring along your Apple tv, Google tv, plug & play programing entertainment.
(Internet outages are rare but it goes without saying that ModMansions is not responsible for any outages due to, the actions of the national provider or adverse weather conditions etc.)

Swimming Pools: Our pools are exclusively for humans, NEVER for dogs. Should any evidence be found or observed that your doggie was in the pool accidently or otherwise then ALL the associated costs of completely emptying the pool, install new filters, adding all the associated chemicals etc. and the labor hours involved plus pet deposits will be billed immediately to the card on file.

Our Palm Springs adventure
A group of friends from the East coast visited Palm Springs to reunite with friends who have retired there. We all fell in love w the PS area. Our lovely modernist home away from home was perfect! The Alan Ladd house is a dream and accommodated all of our needs. Mod Mansions delivers - you’re surrounded by the mid-century look at every glance, but have all the conveniences you need! We’ll definitely be seeing you again!!

Hangin’ with the Stars
We are four couples who have known each other for over 50 years, having met when the men were young Army officers in Augsburg, Germany. We have stayed in contact over all these years, traveling together whenever we can. The Alan Ladd house provided a relaxing, comfortable week for us to laugh, retell stories and just enjoy being together. We think your group will also enjoy this lovely, historic house as well.

Amazing Host & Property
Had an amazing time celebrating my husbands 50th! We had 3 other couples and the house was perfect for entertaining and housing many guests. We all had our own bathrooms and all the rooms were spacious. House well stocked. Best part was David the host. I couldn't pick up my hubby's birthday cake - David was gracious enough to pick it up and drive it over to the house. Amazing host and house - RENT THIS PROPERTY!

Fabulous Property
Our stay at the Alan Ladd estate was a perfect get away with good friends. The house was immaculate and big enough for 10 people. The pool and hot tub were very well maintained and heated to a perfect temperature since we paid for the pool and spa to be heated. The house is within walking distance of restaurants and shops. The Owner/Manager couldn’t have been nicer and more available. The kitchen and bar were very well stocked. I highly recommend this property for anyone traveling to Palm Springs. It is in a very desirable neighborhood and the history with Hollywood makes it extra special. We would definitely stay at this property again.
