Surfinn Eco Cottage is a modern self contained Papatowai cottage that's waiting for you to arrive and take in the best that the Catlins coast has to offer.

A two story two bedroom dwelling, Surfinn Eco Cottage is located in the quaint coastal village of Papatowai, right in the heart of the beautiful and historically important Catlins Coast, which is one of the most stunning regions of the country!

Noted for its big wave surfing, the Catlins is a surfer's dream come true! Paua and crayfish are swimming in the area for those keen on their snorkelling, and the magical rainforest and waterfalls in the area will appeal to all. Noted for some of New Zealand's rare and endangered wildlife, the Catlins features everything from yellow-eyed penguins and sea lions, all the way through to gannets, kakariki, and wood pigeons - it's truly a wildlife lover's paradise!

This Papatowai cottage is equipped with a kitchen that includes a stovetop, oven, and a microwave. Having made your romantic meal, head to the open plan living area - it's a great place to dine, relax, and socialise as it comes with some spectacular views out towards the estuary and the forests of Tahakopa! As Surfinn Eco Cottage faces north, you'll be able to enjoy the luxury of all day sunlight!

The speaker system has an iPod docking station - perfect for listening to your favourite tunes. The heat pump means that you'll always be at the right temperature; nice and cosy in the Winter, and cool and relaxed in the Summer.

The lookout on the top floor is where you'll find the king sized bed. This bedroom comes complete with a small wardrobe, and has even more wonderful views of Tahakopa bay. The second bedroom has a queen bed. The bathroom combines with a laundry, ensuring that you'll always be nice and refreshed throughout your stay. The private driveway means that there's room enough for a boat of up to 7 metres. The private grassy area means that there's room for sunbathing on those sunny days!

Very nice Location

We had a very good time in Papatowai. The Surfinn Eco Cottage is a good starting point for many activities around. We loved the room upstairs wit the nice view on the river side.

A very cute bach/crib located in a very peaceful location at Papatowai. It had everything we needed and the view from the upstairs room was fabulous. Only downside was the upstairs bed was a bit tired - excusing the pun.

Very clean, perfect for a weekend getaway. Water pressure a bit weak, but as you would expect being in the middle of nowhere. I do feel it’s a little bit expensive but then also worth it.

The property suited our needs but needs some maintenance . Well situated but the views are really only from the upstairs bedroom . The garden needs attention , it would be much improved if the container was removed & some outdoor furniture provided.

Great little getaway

Lovely, warm little bach, and would be enough living / bathroom space with 4 people too. The kitchen was well-equipped and it's only a short walk down to a beautiful beach. Would definitely recommend! The bach catches a lot of sun too, so it's bright and cheerful during the day. Only slightly negative comment: Watch your head on the shelves above the bed upstairs!

We stayed during winter, so being warm is all important, which this place was.

We stayed during winter, so being warm is all important, which this place was. The town of Papatowai was very quiet and the beach that the bach rests above was empty also. It's just you and nature out here, which is exactly what we were after. The bed was comfy and the bedroom has a lovely view out to the beach and surrounding hills, a perfect way to admire the sunrise.

When it rained water leaked into the main living room through a light fitting and filled half a pot.

When it rained water leaked into the main living room through a light fitting and filled half a pot. The tea towels were of the type that did not actually DRY dishes, and there was no dish rack to drip-dry the dishes. The bed in bedroom 2 downstairs (where our adult daughter slept) was a fold out bed of an old style that was extremely uncomfortable. All else just lovely thanks.
