Our family of five adults had a marvelous stay at Quinta do Sardão. Between the spacious farm house, the extensive orchard, the inviting patio with large table and ample seating, this place offered much needed respite from the hustle and bustle of life. Note that the pool is on the owner’s property across the driveway but we had access to it always. Speaking of the owner - he is a gem of a host. He surprised us daily with fresh apples from the orchard, baked goods from a local cafe, new pillows for our chairs outdoors, and a rug to make the patio more comfortable. His attentiveness to our comfort was always subtle, unobtrusive and well-received, and he was just so kind and accommodating. The house is in a rural area but a grocery store, bakery/cafe, and a butcher are within walking distance (if you don’t mind walking along a busy street for a few hundred meters); just use Google Maps :)If you have a car, Porto and several beaches are within a 20 to 30-minute drive. We did not explore the more mountainous areas to the east but understand that would be a lovely option as well.Bonus: we were able to bring our dog who quickly made friends with the owner’s dog. We had a wonderful, relaxing time and enjoyed the respite this place offered as well as the stimulating excursions to area attractions. Thank you for everything, Jaime. Até a próxima!
