Hotel and expensive spa

The hotel was fine, and they provided a takeaway breakfast as we had to leave to catch a plane before breakfast service opened. However i was disappointed to have to pay to use the indoor pool, which I decided not to do.

Quiet hotel with a perfectly clean design

I had an amazing time in Porto Santo and a great at this hotel. Nice people, good service, attentiveness - the rooms need some updating, as they let a bit too much noise in, but they're still very comfortable and clean.

Great resort

We stayed 3 nights at the Porto Santo in May. It is an older hotel, but the common areas are lovely, well maintained and clean. It seems that most of the 1st floor rooms have no view but there was a balcony with chairs viewing the garden. The bed was comfortable, the wifi was great, and the towels were beautifully soft. The staff was lovely, very friendly and accomodating. The beach is easily accessible and there is a lovely pool. The small town is about a 1.5 kil walk. The town had many cafes. While we visited, the town was quiet and it was easy to find a table for a meal. The hotel includes breakfast which was plentiful although most of the hot food was not for me. There was plenty of fruit and nice baked goods. We enjoyed our stay.

Best location on the island!

The facilities are great - the pool is lovely, the breakfast is great, the pool bar is good and the hotel's location is the best on the island. But the rooms are very very dated and the balconies have no view. The rooms desperately need updating. Had a brilliant stay but was not sorry to leave the dated room and bathroom.

Great location, vintage hotel

Great location on the beach. Lovely swimming pool and beach bar. A must for fans of 60s architecture as the original design and furniture are intact. However I personally think the soft furnishings in the room should be updated as I felt like I was staying in a musty museum. I would not recommend dining at the restaurant based on our experience. However, breakfast is wonderful and there's a great restaurant down the road - Casa d'Avo.

Excellent location for the beach

We booked this hotel from the taxiway after our plane was diverted from Funchal to Porto Santo as it was the first available through Expedia. It turned out to be an excellent 1 night stop over. The hotel is just 50 metres from 8km sandy beach and would make an excellent place for a planned holiday in the summer. The staff were very helpful in helping with our onward travel to Funchal the next day organising the ferry and taxi.

tired hotel but great location

Hotel is very outdated but the location is perfect, close to centre 15 mins and to great restaurants - Allencastre and casa so Avo are great and 5 mins walking. The hotel really needs updating and the spa looks fantastic but everything from the inddor pool to the gym you will have to pay for. It is a separate unit to the hotel so beware of extra costs.

UNFORTUNATELY THERE WERE NOT MANY GUESTS IN THE HOTEL. HOWEVER THE STAFF WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. THE HOTEL WAS IN A VERY GOOD POSITION WITH THE SANDY BEACH AT THE END OF THE HOTEL GROUNDS. THE GROUNDS ARE VERY WELL KEPT. THE SWIMMING POOL WAS OF A VERY GOOD SIZE AND VERY CLEAN. THE PATIO AROUND THE POOL WAS SPACIOUS. WE ATE SOME MEALS IN THE HOTEL. STAFF WERE VERY EFFICIENT. THE FOOD WAS OF A GOOD STANDARD. WE THOUGHT THE PRICE OF THE WINE BY THE BOTTLE WAS EXPENSIVE.

Not worth the money!!!

I didn't like the idea I had to pay for using indoor swimming pool and something called 'gym'. And believe me, it's not cheap at all! SPA facilities very very poor! Food was not good neither.
