Pottenstein is one of the most picturesque and famous places in Franconian Switzerland. The town is known for its breathtaking rocky landscape, its historical sights and its numerous leisure activities. One of the most impressive sights is Pottenstein Castle, which towers on a rock above the town. The castle dates back to the 11th century and offers a magnificent view of the town and the countryside. Visitors can tour the castle and learn about its fascinating history. Pottenstein also offers breathtaking scenery with numerous hiking and cycling trails. The Püttlach and Klumpertal valleys and the Pottensteiner Höhenweg trail with its striking observation tower, the Himmelsleiter, are particularly popular.
