The property is beautiful BUT the buffet food was not good, flies around, reservations for dinner must be done or you get nasty attitudes from hostess especially at Kyoto. Additionally don’t get sick because they send you on the ambulance to a private clinic not a hospital and charge almost 2,000 without medications. Your chance of stomach virus is very high too.

I was robbed in my room for over $100. The perpetrator came in my room while I slept and stole money from off the dresser in my junior suite. This was an inside job from employees at the 24 hour Strikers bar. I caught employees roaming from the Strikers Sports Bar where the junior suites are around 1am every night. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. There is a theft ring at this hotel. This is not a 5 star hotel. Saw bedbugs in my room. Roaches at 24hour Sport bar. Food was bland not worth almost $2000. Waiter and servers act like you have to tip. I am going to see if I contact the US Embassy in DR about busting this robbery ring at this hotel. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL.

Overall our stay at Barcelo Bavaro was amazing. We have enjoyed all the activities, food and atmosphere, all was quiet and relaxing . The theater performing was ok, will need some type of improvement so doesn’t look to repetitive. We love to come back sometime in the near future.

La instalaciones estan bastantes buenas para la antiguedad del hotel. Deben enfocar mas el servicio (personalizado), la comida mucha no sabe fresca, no hubo aire acondicionado en dos ocaciones y el agua fria se nos fue estando en el jacuzzi. Pero mi familia y yo valoramos mas el tiempo que pasamos juntos que eso detalles. Por eso lo valore en 4 estrellas...Gracias y por supuesto que los volveriamos a visitar...

The property is fine. But lack of instructions like how to use the sport fields. The food has a lot of choices but taste bad. You can see a fly died on the sushi. The beach has too much seaweeds. Only 30% of the staffs speak English.

You must read this! This is our second time in Barcelo in 8 month period. The first time we visited, it was in a winter moths and now we decided to go at the beginning of September, when the crowds are gone. My previous review gave this resort 3 stars but I am going down to 1! 1. Water bugs were everywhere!!! 2. Check in is still horrible and they could care less if you have any VIP status with Expedia! If you don’t book directly with the hotel, you dont exist! Resort was half empty and they lied through their teeth that they are fully booked and cannot upgrade you. 3. We stayed at the family side by the golf course. The second day I had to change the room because of water bugs and not working AC. I was told to pack and come back at 3pm!! Once I did, the horrible front desk staff made me wait in line like the new quest!!! I spend an hour trying to get a supervisor to change my room!! Awful customer service! 4. If you are white, you will not get much service or attention!! They don’t like Americans and you will be ignored!! 5. The water in September is very hot, both the ocean and the pool. If you can’t take excessive heat, aim to go in November-March. 6. FOOD!!!! - HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE!!! So many reviews of this place over the years that I read, stating that food is below average. Yet, nothing changes! They overlook, making up dishes that taste like jail food, instead of cooking less with better quality. 7. Non-existent customer service. No thank you, no how can I help!

We were not greated when we came in. We were just asked to go in a line to what was check in and waited and waited to be noticed by front desk staff who took a very long time to even say we will be right with you! Bed Sheets and Towels had stains on them. Waiters need some customer service skills because they looked to be annoyed to be there. No good morning greetings or how can we be of help. To top it off there were cockroaches on the buffet tables running around the food which grossed us all out and tried to eat out of the hotel instead. Food was tasteless and gross.

Resort had great amenities even if they are highly overpriced. Kids had a blast, pools were largely clean and the food was decent. Definitely check out la brissa on the adult side for dinner. Highly recommend upgrading to premium, worth every penny
