want to first focus on the positive things and give credit where it’s due . The property is beautiful and clean . The food was consistently a 10/10 especially the Lobster bar . We were celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday and they made our time in the Magna restaurant unforgettable . Marleny and her crew decorated the section and also made an amazing cake for us. All of the staff were always smiling and greeted us. Hector our bellman was very helpful also. I had an issue the first day of my trip in which my AC was not working and although they switched my room the following day , the ladies in the excellence club check in were not empathetic at all. They did not care and in fact hung up the phone on me multiple times . Even in person they showed no interest in helping. Berenice was the only person there that showed interest. And I appreciate her . I was given a free spa day and Angela at the spa was a 10/10.

The people working here are extremely loud and unprofessional. They congregate and just talk, laugh, and scream instead of doing their job. Management does nothing to stop it. Also. If you don’t tip their every move, they will ignore you. Finally, you don’t get any special treatment if you're in the club vs regular areas. However, if you're in the club, they will do everything possible to milk you for more tips. Vendors on the beach will also bombard you every few minutes and it's even worst in the club area. Room service is less than average and they would leave things out on purpose so you can tip them when they bring it later. Other Excellence properties in Mexico are much better. I would not go back to DR.

Property was gorgeous, rooms were clean, staff was friendly, lots of bar and restaurant options, minibar refilled daily with beer and mixers, full sized bottles of liquor in room.

I had a great time at Excellence El Carmen! The rooms are large, have plenty of amenities and plugs to charge all your devices. We ate at the delicious restaurants but had room service just as much. Service was quick and patient. I’ll definitely be visiting other Excellence locations after this trip.
