The staff at the front desk was very rude and not at all helpful.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants
Cons: No free Internet, Noisy
If you do stay here and wish an oceanfront suite do not take the ground floor. We paid an extra $340.00 to upgrade to oceanfront suite expecting to have a great view. Our view consisted of a 5ft. hedge which covered the front of the whole balcony. Since my husband had a bad hip changing rooms to an upper floor was not an option because of the stairs. The Westjet rep spoke to the front desk and they said they would have the gardener trim the hedge but this did not happen. On day of checkout our transfer was half an hour late and I requested at the desk to call to see where they were and was told that I could not use the phone. They really were pretty miserable. Also, unless you speak French you are pretty well left out of everything here. Food was plentiful but absolutely no taste to anything. They sure could use a chef to tell them how to carve meat as they just chopped the beef and chicken up into little pieces like they were afraid to give you too much. There are plenty of nice hotels to stay at in Punta Cana and I certainly would not stay here again.

Not a good choice for English speakers

Cons: Nothing close, No free Internet, english not spoken well, expensive
We found this resort to be enjoyable although it did have its problems. The biggest problem was that English was not spoken by some members of the staff and all activities and theatrical events were conducted in French. This resort caters to the French and Spanish speakers. We found it very irritating having to avoid the time share and activity sales people on a daily basis, these people were like buzzards flying over a potential meal. Why do they allow these people on hotel property? The food was average, not what we were expecting for a 4 star rating. The beds were a little hard, cleanliness was good. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner because they don't supply any and the mini market on the premises was very expensive. The beach is beautiful. The bar staff don't smile, didn't seem to be interested in their jobs. Can't get a buzz on the alcohol even if you drink all day. In general it was an enjoyable trip but we found the D. R. was very expensive and we felt trapped, because you can't just go for a walk off hotel property for shopping or meals because there's nothing like that nearby. Rather go to Mexico.

COST

Pros: BUFFET
Cons: Cut down shrubs outside room patio railings. so you can see beach(1st floor rooms) Add swim-up bar & stools. Also install stools around all bars.
Location: Stayed on resort
Was not happy with price, shortly after booking the visit in June with Travelocity I was informed by VIK that I was to pay an additional fee off $166.00 because there computer made a mistake. Travelocity guarantees there prices, they told me I had to pay the additional fee.

The check in personnel were inadequate.

The check in personnel were inadequate and rude. It seemed as if they gave preferential treatment to Spanish speaking guests. They didn't make any effort to ask if I have any excursions reserved. Nor did they advise me of the excursions desk. Never visiting with this hotel again. I was less than pleased. The front desk and the lounge area smelled moldy!!

Wouldn't recommend

Pros: The pool and beach area were very nice. The lobby was also very pretty. The little store was convenient and the people were friendly.
Cons: The Heckling! Stop trying to sell me stuff, I'm on vacation! building 1 needs to be renovated! New beds and no cracks under the doors.
Location: Location was good. We were right on the beach and any time you wanted to go somewhere a ride was available.
We booked this hotel because it was SUPER cheap. I read the reviews not seeing one that would keep me from booking this, the typical "food was bad, beds were bad" yada yada typical reviews... I would recommend going to the counters at the buffet where they have a cook actually making something. The beds were hard and poor A/C in the rooms, these were doable. If it were just those things I would have given this hotel a 4 but: - check-in is at 3 but because of all the late check-outs, our check-in was 4 (no biggie really) - The HECKLING! not the type you get one the beach with people trying to sell you stuff, the HOTEL trying to sell you stuff! At check-in you're handed a brochure with a time in the morning the next day for a MANDATORY meeting with someone to tell you when pickup for the flight home will be but really its a 2 hour meeting with someone trying to get you to book excursions. - The HECKLING! We were told by a staff member after 2 days they are supposed to show people around the VIP area and each person he walks through, he gets paid commission. When we went (because we felt bad and wanted him to get paid) they had us sit down with a rep. that tried to get us to book VIP for our next trip (this typically takes 3 hrs she said) - COCKROACHES! we were all in building 1000 on the lower level and got a notice they were going to fumigate. Later that night we found one in one of the rooms and another a few days later! I heard building 4 and 5 were remodeled js.

Great Location~No frills~Perfect vacation for relaxing.

Pros: Close restaurants, Quiet
Spectacular beach and beautiful weather. Property is very clean, safe and well kept. Workers are kind and always smiling. Rooms could definitely use renovations. Food is fair to good and plentiful. Go to relax and you will have a great time :)

Good Deal for the Price

I enjoyed my stay at the VIK Hotel Arena Blanca in Punta Cana, but we definitely got what we paid for. My buddy and I went basically with the cheapest deal within reason. The hotel had great character and stayed true to the thematic style of an island resort. The food was ok at best, and the rooms were, well rooms. But as I said I wasn't expecting a whole lot from the price we paid. The beach was great, the drinks were plentiful, and all the people we met from around the world were fantastic. My buddy and I are both single and were trying to find a place that wouldn't be overrun with couples, but the place was packed with couples and families. If I had it all over to do again I would probably pay a little more and stay at a nicer resort.

Great beachfront vacation!

Cons: No free Internet
The resort is small enough to be easy to get around, get drinks and food easily. Plenty of food available plenty of time. Resort is not fancy or luxury but had everything I needed for a relaxing time on a great beach.

Beautiful beach, easy access to food and drink.

This is the second time I have stayed at the Vik Arena Blanca. The beach is beautiful. The hotel is smaller than some of the all-inclusives, which I liked. The layout is nice. It is not a fancy hotel, but I found it to be very convenient. Easy to eat, drink, and enjoy the beach, which was the purpose of my trip.
