CAT NAP - An Affordable Home Away from Home

A newer colonial style island cottage with 2 full bedrooms and 2 full baths. The entire interior of the cottage is freshly painted and a new living room set, queen bed, linens, shower curtains, etc

The Master bedroom features a Queen bed with attached master bathroom. Second bedroom contains 2 twin beds ideal for children, teenagers or friends. This house truly feels like home to guests. You can just relax.

This cottage features full size appliance, ACs in each living space, wifi, satellite TV, and much more. It has no immediate neighbors. Beach towels, cooler, books, are some of the extras at the house.

The host was extremely helpful before check-in to make sure we had all the information we needed. We had stayed here 10 years ago in 2015 and it was a fantastic house. Still a great house for an affordable rate though it is a bit older and there are a few areas that could use a little fixing up. Overall the location is fantastic and the house is a great house for a wonderful stay on Eleuthera. It was great to have a cooler that we could take out with us throughout the day, a few beach chairs that we could take and the beach towels. Having an outdoor faucet that we could rinse our gear off at the end of each day was fantastic too!

Perfect family get away!

We had a wonderful weeks stay at Cat Nap. The cottage is neat and clean. It has everything you need. The AC works great and the kitchen is fully stocked with anything you need for cooking. We enjoyed our time in the cottage and it’s the perfect location to enjoy both ends and the middle of Eleuthera!

Nice and peaceful stay

We had a lovely stay here. The place was easy to find with the instructions provided and the communication was good. Check-in was easy. This was a standalone house and felt private. I liked that they had a cooler and camping chairs that you could take to the beach. Having the AC on for our check-in was a very nice and thoughtful touch. Clean up rules were minimal though you should take the trash to the location they mention if you stay more than a couple days. I understand that they are about to make some updates to this property so this is based on the original set up/layout in September 2023. On my wish list for the update would be a larger TV and a larger couches for more people to sit comfortably, but this is just a wish list, it didn't affect our nice stay here. Bring cooking oil and pepper if you plan to cook.

Casa indipendente molto carina e ristrutturata con cura. Ottima posizione per visitare l'isola e vicinissima ad una spiaggia meravigliosa come rainbow bay. Solo due aspetti da migliorare, uno la fornitura di pentole e utensili cucina vecchi e limitati, difficile cucinare per una famiglia di quattro persone, secondo finestra centrale del salotto rotta quindi un peccato non poter approfittare a pieno dell'accesso al terrazzo e della brezza marina che potrebbe arrivare.

A bargain but for what price?

The property is as appears in the VRBO listing but, as a previous reviewer mentioned, shows a lot of wear. There is no potable water and after check in, was warned it could get me sick. A previous guest had shoved plastic bags in loose window frames, I’m guessing to keep water out. Many windows weren’t working and the glass door to the deck was inoperable. Sugar ants, common in the tropics, made cooking challenging and I recommend storing ALL FOOD AND ANYTHING WITH FRAGRANCE in the refrigerator. While the house is well furnished, some things, like the couch, are near the end of their lifespans. Clean, functional, but sagging and uncomfortable. A/C units, TV, and wifi worked well. Experienced two daytime power outages in one 5 day period—-not the fault of the owner but would make any remote worker’s day challenging. The view and neighborhood were nice. There’s a cute beach within a 20 minute walk (most beach is private in this area). If you’re coming to get away from it all and are cool with a part house rental/part camping bargain, this is a great place. If you need to remote work or need safe, reliable drinking water, no. When things didn’t work, like windows, the manager was helpful and sent maintenance staff. However, is was disconcerting that anytime I brought up a challenge (like arriving to find many windows open and unsure how to close and lock them) I was asked, “Well, what did you do???” With so many repairs that needed a little TLC, I decided it was better to not raise the with the owner/manager. I was frustrating to arrive at night and not have a bottle of water to drink—and learn from a note on the wall the tap water wasn’t safe to drink. The water cooler had been left unplugged and the remaining water in the base smelled unsafe to drink, with a bug floating in it. I spent a fair amount of money buying water every day—an expense that the listing didn’t make clear and the host didn’t point out when I said this was my first visit to the island. Instead, I left five days into a monthlong stay. Unable to find another place on the island within budget, I left the island. I didn’t feel like, based on prior engagements with the host, like it would be a kind conversation talking about the challenges with the house. To be fair, I don’t think they typically house remote workers. If you’re just going to the beach every day, eating out at a lot, and budget for water, this place could be a good fit.

Bargain in the Bahamas

The price can’t be beat. Excellent location, pretty exterior and interior. Open living area. Ample towels. Good breezy porch. Lots of cooking equipment. However, the mattresses are not sturdy — you can feel the springs and if there are two of you, you will roll into each other all night long. Every slight move jiggles the bed. Sofas are caving in as well. All from good use I imagine. Overall a good deal but more run-down than we expected. Ant infestation on counter. The Atlantic and Caribbean are both within a few minutes’ walk. Immediate responses from owner.

Cat Nap is a wonderful house to stay at! Beach chairs, cooler, towels, fully equipped kitchen, tv, WiFi...we had everything we needed! The only thing we didn’t have is more time to soak up the sun and wiggle our toes in the sand!
