There's a restaurant on site, as well as a snack bar/deli. You can enjoy a drink at the bar/lounge. Free breakfast is served. Public spaces have free WiFi.
The business-friendly Hótel Selið also features concierge services, laundry facilities, and dry cleaning/laundry services. Free self parking is available.
The lady who works here is the SWEETEST person ever!! Absolutely loved having her there. I'd definitely recommend having your meals with her, they are delicious! My only issue was the room was pretty warm at night. We had to open the window during our second night but the winds were too strong and ended up having to close them. But overall, great stay.
Vala and Lila were incredible in their service attitude. Place was warm, kept, and cozy.
Location is remote but that is why we chose it. Small waterfalls and nice morning walk/jog area. Great springboard location for southwest Iceland exploration.
Vala helped us stay aware of Northen Lights visibility which was very special for our trip.
Dinner is a bit pricey but available and worth it. Alcohol as anywhere in Iceland is expensive. Pick your own up at a Vinbudin or duty free on your way in but know itâs not welcome in commmon areas which is understandable.
Nice, quaint out of the way place. So glad they offered dinner as it would be a long drive to somewhere else! Food was excellent! The room and staff were very nice. The bath is ready to be refreshed.
Really lovely - very good quality and clean. Best breakfast we had in Iceland. Great restaurant (Strönd) just around the corner. Very relaxing jump point for Thorsmark.
We selected this hotel based on Rick Steveâs recommendation, and stayed 2 nights. It was very difficult to find, despite having a rental car with a GPS. The room was clean and there was WiFi, but no tv. The breakfast was very good and the blonde-haired woman was very friendly. As with all places in Iceland, it was very expensive. We overheard some guests who ate dinner there be surprised at checkout when they apparently first learned that dinner was not included.
We spent two nights here while exploring the south coast. The hotel is surrounded by incredible scenery and easy hiking trails that lead to hidden gems of nature. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The owners are really nice and friendly and make tasty home cooked meals.
We stayed at Hotel Selid for one night and found it to be very comfortable. The room was an adequate size for the two of us and the breakfast spread was welcome. Most outstanding were the staff, who made arrangements so that we could check-in late, were friendly and had excellent knowledge of the local area, providing tips and recommendations to us and other guests.
By far our favorite place while traveling around the ring road. Raven and his wife were friendly, accommodating, and gracious hosts. Breakfast was great, best buffet we had in Iceland. Beautiful views and secluded but hard to see sign from road. Rooms including the bathroom are huge. Will def stay here again for any future visits.
We had a long day driving across the southern coast of Iceland and arrived around 8:30 pm. The Hotel Selid was lovely and our dinner was delicious. I wish we could have stayed more than one night and I hope to return so I can take the hike along the river. We woke up to snow before we left. It was a winter wonderland.
Hotel is off the main road in a quiet and picturesque setting. Room was clean, modern and inviting with views. Staff was warm and welcoming. We wish we cuold have stayed a few more days.
After a few minutes drive from the main road the tarmac suddenly turned into a gravel road, I kept on driving and the GPS said I was already at the destination and I didn't see anything that looked like a hotel.
Then I saw the sign that that there was one kilometer to the hotel and turned right.
When I saw the hotel I got a bad feeling, it didn't look that much from the outside and with a bad hotel experience from the night before I started to think I made another bad choice.
But I could not have been more wrong, when I came in and showed the room I was just blown away, it was fantastic.
Room was very fresh and nice, staff super friendly and breakfast very nice.
I got some local tips as well what to visit on my last day at Iceland.
I really recommend this hotel.
Soundings was great, well worth the sidetracked drive from the main road.
We enjoyed this remote hotel very much. It is about 10km off highway 1 near Hella. The hotel and room were very clean. The service was great. They provide an evening meal if asked, and the food was delicious. We hiked along a nearby stream, and enjoyed the small waterfalls that fill the stream. The absence of light allowed us to see the northern lights one night during our visit. A large dining area and couches for chatting were nice for relaxing in the evening. A great place.
Lovely little place 6km off the main road down a part gravel road. Really friendly and accommodating staff. Looks fairly basic outside as most Iceland places do but homely and weâll designed inside. Fairly no-frills rooms but comfortable beds and clean. We enjoyed the hot tub, ate a lovely lamb stew and chocolate cake for dinner and the location was perfect to avoid us having to go all the way back to ReykjavĂk after driving to Vik and we were then onto the golden circle within about 20 minutes the next morning.
No real negatives. Itâs quite isolated but if your northern lights hopefuls like us thatâs ideal. The dinner was on the expensive side but not out of context for the rest of Iceland.
