Great property. Recently renovated rooms from what I heard & the rooms were very nice. Our bathroom had a tub and a shower, so that was nice to be able to both be able to shower at the same time. Parking is TIGHT! If you have a huge truck or SUV, don’t bring it. We JUST fit with a suburban. I saw trucks taking up 2 spots. Recommend a smaller car. NO pool, which I wish there was one, but not a huge deal. Right on the boardwalk, not the noisy area either, easy beach access and the rental places for umbrellas and chairs. Would potentially come again, the no pool on site is as really the only negative for us personally.

The parking garage is the only real issue I had. It’s just too small for anything but a compact unless you take 2 spaces and a lot did just that. This meant not near enough parking. My truck ended up taking hit and run damage while parked overnight in the parking garage and although the staff was apologetic there is nothing they could do. There just isn’t enough space for larger vehicles and only one handicapped space. The rest of the complex was very nice and the beach and boardwalk access were perfect.

I loved the lobby, sofas to wait for your party to get together, coffee machine , water and best of all- oranges! What a healthy portable snack for the beach! Check in staff and housekeepers so friendly and very professional for young people!

The hotel botched our reservations and we were forced to cut our trip short. The staff were unfriendly and seemed completely disinterested in helping us resolve our issue. Throughout our stay, the front desk staff seemed more interested in looking at their phones than acknowledging guests. The cleaning staff, on the other hand, were quite friendly and professional. And they have upgraded the rooms from years past. After going for more than 30 years and enduring construction, broken air-conditioners, and dredging on the beach (which they did not inform us about ahead of time), I think we have finally reached our limit. The location is superb. But there is always something wrong at the Henlopen.

Everything was great except front desk staff. The 3 times we had to interact they were on their cell phones and it was as if we were bothering them. One encounter was due to lack of housekeeping that day and the reply from the girl at the desk was “so what do you want me to do?”. For such a great hotel they really need to step up the face of the hotel.

We stayed in room 205, which was NOT an oceanfront view. Also, our room was supposed to accommodate 4 guests and there was only one bed --- not pull out. (in fact, our room had one chair, one writing table, two nightstands, and a bed). Our daughter was married upstairs in 2012 (??) and we thought we'd give the property a try. Other than the issues' above our stay was just OK.
