Highlights City Walls Ippoton Street (Street of the Knights) Palace of the Grand Masters Knights Hospital Byzantine Museum Mosque of Suleiman the Magnificent Acropolis of ancient Rhodes Lindos Shopping The former bazaar area of Sokratous Street in Rhodes old town is the best place to shop for souvenirs, though you will also find some chic gift stores in Lindos. Typical mementoes include Turkish-inspired rugs, ceramics (decorated with a deer, the symbol of Rhodes), leather goods, furs (from Kastoria in northern Greece), and gold and silver jewellery. Local wines, olive oil and sponges are also good buys. Eating Out Greek cuisine is based on fresh, seasonal, Mediterranean ingredients, with the abundant use of olive oil. Popular main courses include simply prepared fresh seafood, plus charcoal-grilled meat and hearty stews. When To Go The Mediterranean cruise season runs from late April to late October. Peak season in Greece is July to August, when all the main destinations are very hot and very crowded. Try to visit in May/June or September/October/November/December to avoid the crowds and enjoy milder weather.
Many of the outdoor scenes of The Guns of Navarone (starring Gregory Peck, David Niven and Anthony Quinn) and Escape to Athena (starring Roger Moore and Telly Savalas) were filmed on the Island of Rhodes.
rhodes city The city of Rhodes is situated in the north-east tip of the island and forms a triangle from north to south. It is the smallest municipality of the island in terms of land area and the largest in population. It borders with the Aegean Sea in the north, the east and the west and with the municipalities of Ialysos and Kallithea in the south. The island of Rhodes is at a crossroads between Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. This has given the city and the island many different identities, cultures, architectures, and languages over it long history. Its position in major sea routes has given Rhodes a very rich history. The island has been inhabitated since about 4000 BC (Neolithic Period). Both city and island population continue to grow contrary to national levels the city has an official population of 54,000, but the actual population is estimated between 75 and 80,000. This is caused by many permanent residents of the city registering in their place of birth during the census. Thus the citys total population, as counted by the census, is less than the number of people actually residing in the city. Currently it is estimated that 80,000 people reside permanently in the city although last census showed only 54,000. This issue is criticized by the city mayors as permanent population burden the municipality with costs that can not be justified by the official numbers. The road network of the city is gradually becoming insufficient as the car fleet expands at a rate of 5,500 per year thus making both traffic and parking an increasing concern for the city officials, especially during the high-season (about 70,000 cars move from/to the center per day). The Medieval Town closes for vehicles during the summer so all the traffic gathers outside the walls and towards the modern city center which has mainly narrow and one-way streets. Finding a parking space is difficult and moreover it is under a fee. Direction signings on the streets are sufficient. From the south end of the city begins the E-95, the national road that connects the city with Lindos.

About Saray – A Living Monument of History and Craftsmanship
Saray is not just a villa — it is a monumental property with a rich and storied past, celebrated for its unique architecture and masterful design.
The villa's interior showcases elaborate handcrafted wooden elements that reflect and complement the stone-inspired architectural features of the building. The grand hall features beautifully tiled floors, while the ceilings are crafted from hand-painted wood in elegant tones of blue, yellow, and warm terracotta.
A handmade wooden staircase, complete with detailed banisters and railings, leads to the upper level. All rooms are adorned with wooden floors and ceilings, large windows, and air conditioning for your comfort. The wood used — Katrani timber — was historically imported from Turkey and traded through Rhodes, Egypt, and Marseille, giving the villa a distinct historical and cultural identity.
The first-floor ceiling is especially remarkable, featuring two large hand-painted square panels with geometric patterns and romantic garland motifs, creating an atmosphere of understated nobility and timeless elegance.
As per Greek law, a Climate Resilience Tax of €10/day is payable in cash upon arrival.
