Make sure you book Ibis not ibis budget.The description in Expedia is not correct. IBIS is normal hotel IBIS budget is like a very cheap motel. Very small rooms. When I booked through Expedia I did not know there are two different tier of hotel rooms in the same structure. I would not have booked Ibis Budget knowing it is the worst experience I ever had getting a hotel. However it is located in the safe shopping mall. It is located North part of Rio de Janeiro thus everyone recommended not to go beyond the premise of the hotel and shopping mall.

It was so convenient. Super chill. Room was small but it was just for a night. I was able to extend my departure for 6pm which took the stress of my trip. Staff were really accommodating and friendly. Felt safe specially when traveling alone even if it was just for an overnight stay. Definitely a relaxing experience and a recommended option. 10/10 would come back.

I like that train station is 6 minutes away. Staff was definitely not helpful. Room was very small and humid, smelled very bad. I had questions about the location, requested a map, staff didn't help at all. No one speaks English or Spanish. They didn’t even try helping to communicate.
