The house was nice overall and we enjoyed our stay. It was not very clean, and the cleaning company definitely didnât bother to clean under furniture, and everything felt a bit rundown, but it was still a good value for the price compared to nicer/more expensive areas. The beach access was easy, but the beach itself is not maintained well - itâs more of a wild area. Lots of floating debris from houses that are washing into the ocean, which meant we were not able to go into the ocean one day since there were huge boards with nails floating around. And a dead pelican laid on the beach for several days before a neighbor cleaned it up. Management was very responsive to some of our requests. I wash check in was remote so we didnât have to drive to pick up and drop off a key.
Our stay at Captain Beckâs was wonderful. The house was so clean and organized. The house had things that I had asked about but was told it didnât. Nice surprise.
The pool cleaning was spectacular and the staff so nice.
Brittany was fabulous for contact. We also had to use the office printer and she was so gracious in her obvious busy day.
There were a few things that didnât work:
The oven, which didnât get fixed until Thursday, a bummer when youâre only there for a week ending Friday essentially.
The ice makers. Both ice makers did not make ice, the downstairs ice maker was half filled with solid ice which we defrosted.
The back board on the basketball goal needs an exterminator. We called 3 times to get a wasp nest removed from inside the back board. Our basketball loving grandson has an extreme allergy to wasps and was unable to play. We sprayed twice but the nest is inside the back board. Just replace it. Honestly the deciding factor for Captain Becks was the basketball hoop.
We enjoyed our stay. We had a great week. Thank you so much.
Property was ocean front but set back nicely so despite an unseasonably rough storm we were safe and sound and had plenty of space to spread out and do puzzles etc and enjoy ourselvea
Would have liked a bit more flexibility with the check in process - were coming from another rental and had to wait all day till 4pm to get in to the house despite seeing the cleaning crew and such go through the house at 9am. I know there are policies, but would be nice to have some humanity in stuff like this rather than pure process (or at least have someone explain why things happen the way they do rather than just âitâs policyâ)
Unfortunately, due to a hurricane evacuation, we were only able to enjoy 4-nights at the property. Even though we had 4 families (8-adults and 8-kids) staying at the house, it felt extremely spacious. Great location, easy access to the beach, fun outdoor spaces, everything was clean and the pool was a refreshing break from the hot sun. Next time we would get the insurance (ouch!) but we'd totally stay here again.
Hassle free, well equipped for all your needs. Plenty of dishes and utensils. Had two full refrigerators, nice large open kitchen with ocean views. Great for hosting multi families.
I understand everything going on with Covid-19 but we tried to call and email multiple times to get pool heat and no one would return calls or emails. The cleaning service was terrible, we found cups and bowls in the cupboards that were not washed and had old food and mold in them. You should also note that the house has a jack and Jill bathroom.
