A well maintained holiday home
We really enjoyed our stay here. It was well equipped and comfortable. There was a very large Tesco not too far away and the property was conveniently situated for visiting all parts of the Island. The driveway was quite small but adequate for two cars. Overall very pleasing.

Family holiday
Lovely house, nice location. Plenty of space for 7 of us and a baby. Only bad points were the high chair was unclean and unusable and the travel cot was broken. Ended up buying both on the day we arrived.

Family friendly house
Well equipped family house. Stairgate especially useful as was playground across the road and local corner shop 2 minute walk. Very spacious master bedroom with ensuite but some of the beds could do with mattress toppers to improve comfort and the kitchen tap was dripping constantly wasting water , but despite this, a very pleasant stay.

Perfect location and very well equipped accommodation
Firstly, I will always be booking our annual trip to the Isle of Wight through Island holiday homes. We always extend our stay with an early ferry start and a late ferry home, this year the weather wasn’t great so a phone call from the agents to say the property was ready early was fantastic. The house itself was a great size for two families with space to spread out and for teenagers to have some ‘time out’. I have never stayed anywhere that is so well equipped kitchen wise either. The road outside is not busy and the parking worked for two large cars. There are great beaches within walking distance and it’s just a short hop to the corner shop that is open late for supplies. We would all highly recommend Helms House.

Amazing house
We have stayed in many holiday lets over the years. The owners have thought of everything we couldn’t find anything that we didn’t want. It’s advertised for 2 cars can park you can only get one medium size car on the drive but the park with parking is only a short walk away. The house is extremely clean. The location isnt the centre of the Isle of Wight which we knew before coming this didn’t bother us as we had a vehicle but there is a bus stop just across the road. The house didn’t come with a welcome pack to get you started but they a village shop approximately 3 minute walk away. We will definitely be back.

Great house for a group in a convenient location.
A very comfortable house ideal for our group of friends. The kitchen got full approval from the cooks in our party once they had mastered the oven controls, with a larger fridge being the only thing on their wish list, and there was plenty of crockery, cutlery and glasses. We particularly appreciated the ground floor layout, with the kitchen opening to the dining area which was also open to the living room meaning that those cooking were not isolated from the rest of the group. There are 3 showers but not enough water pressure to run them all at the same time and the ensuite bathroom suffered from taps running almost dry at times, which could be a little inconvenient. The on-site parking was tight for our 2 longer than average cars, but was manageable with careful manoeuvring. St Helens is a very pleasant village with a lively pub and a very well-stocked open-all-hours shop within a very short walk, and a great walk around the harbour and beach front. All together a great house for us and we would have no hesitation in returning in future.

Helms House, St Helens, IoW
The location in St Helens was convenient for travelling by car to many of the visitor attractions and to/from the ferry terminal at Fishbourne. However, Helms House is on a surprisingly busy road which made the parking space quite difficult to enter and leave, especially squeezing in 2 cars. There was a lot of traffic noise late at night and in the early morning (a noisy motorbike regularly roared past at about 5.45 am!) - this was accentuated because the windows needed to be open due to the hot weather. The fan that was provided in the house unfortunately did not work. The holiday house was reasonably priced and was fairly clean and well equipped, so despite the location problems I still felt it was value for money.
My biggest disappointment was that I'd asked for a highchair and stairgate to be provided. The house notes said the highchair was stored in a bedroom - it wasn't, and we only found it towards the end of the week lurking in the garage, folded under a dirty cover. I do feel it should have been set up and thoroughly cleaned before we arrived. I'd also specifically requested Island Holiday Homes to ask the cleaners to assemble the stairgate. When we arrived with our lively 2-year-old, we were immediately faced with assembling it ourselves - not the best welcome. For these reasons I would not recommend the property to another family with a young child.
Ideal house in an ideal location. Close to beach, supermarket and in walking distance of a pub, that offers wonderful food. Rooms are well sized. Easily accommodated a party of seven. All utilities and accessories for a comfortable stay were provided. Would thoroughly recommend.

Great base for a family holiday
Helms House is set in a lovely village location perfect for beautiful local walks including the Duver beach and visits around the island. The house has a homely feel and is well equipped with a pretty self contained garden safe for children. The road outside the house is quite busy at times but not a noise issue though better to back in so that exiting is safer.

Fantastic family home
What a fantastic house to stay in with a family. It had everything we could possibly need and was in the most perfect location, walking distance to St Helens / The Duver for great beach days with our two year old and right in the centre of St Helens by the pub and playpark.
