the vacation started well however on the Tuesday after most of the guests had left the quality of service declined day by day as it was clear the staff did not wish to be working, on our last full day the Friday the boat captain failed to arrive, and had meant a delay of over 1 hour for our preplanned excursion...this had a knockon effect that I was then late for my massage which meant it had to be cut short. pools were also drained on the Friday giving us limited access. often booking activities had to be changed. the Childrens activities stopped at the beginning of our stay and we had not been notified that this would happen, and access to the games was not allowed after the activities staff had left. the cabin had missing cutlery which meant we had but two spoons for our family, and house keeping would not help with any problems, only if extra charges were to be paid ( which had never been the case in previous stays) Furniture broke during our stay as it had been on the verge of breaking prior but no maintenance had been preformed during the hotel closure.

The staff were very nice and helpful! The pools and water park were lovely. Our cabin was spacious and comfortable. The WiFi was very good in the main building (but iffy in the cabins). We were allowed an incredibly early checkin after arriving on an overnight bus. However, much of the property is dated and needs many refurbishments, such as the fitness center and courtyard. Even a good power washing would make a huge difference. The biggest complaint we have is lack of communication, and thus may be Expedia's fault. We booked with Expedia and arrived as American backpackers without much knowledge of the area and on foot from a bus we convinced to stop en route between Concordia and Salto. We selected a cabin/bungalow because it was the same price as a room, even though breakfast wasn't included. When we arrived, we were informed of several key pieces of information that would have been helpful to know in advance: 1. The hotel stay includes a free taxi to/from the Salto bus terminal for arrivals and departures. 2. There are no grocery stores or non-hotel restaurants in the area. 3. The restaurants at the hotel are very expensive and from reviews, not very good. We didn't end up eating there...a basic continental breakfast cost $30USD...yes... we couldn't believe it either! 4. There is a free bus you can take to town (about 30 minutes) but you have to commit three hours to the effort in waiting for the return bus. 5. The cabins are about 1 km from the hotel.

Don’t be fooled
The location is great as it’s quiet and relaxing. We enjoyed the opportunity to horseback ride which is included in your stay. We also tried to bike ride and after careful testing of the ones available, we still got a lemon. The chain broke and my daughter got seriously injured. We are at the restaurant twice and the food was less then tasty, in fact our bread had green mould on it and after returning it the first time, the second serving also had mold. We stayed in the cabins which have certainly seen better days. While the king bed was very comfortable, the bedsheets and covers looked to be at least 15 years old. The tub was dark from caked on dirt and tears of not cleaning it properly and the pull out couch was fifththy. In short the furniture was extremely dirty and worn out, the kitchen and entrance floors were all bubbles up, likely from guests coming in wet. The pools were dirty and in some cases clearly contained green algae. We were able to find one pool at the hotel that was fairly clean and could be used and we enjoyed the temperature very much! Overall, this place is no longer what is shown in its website and it is in great need of remodelling. It was disappointing as I am Uruguayan and was on vacation with my daughters from Canada. We have travelled to so many countries and islands, and throughout those stays we’ve had excellent accommodations and less than great. Unfortunately this would rate as one of our very poor experiences.

Older hotel that was somewhat rundown
The hotel staff was very pleasant but did not speak any English and it was difficult to communicate and obtain information about the area.

Perfect getaway for exhausted backpackers! :)
Very pleased with our stay in the cabanas. Isolated location with a perfect little path to a pier on the river. Short drive to the wonderful thermal pools was perfect. If I find myself in Salto, Uruguay again, I would definitely love to stay here again!

Long drive for nothing
I made a trip all the way to Salto...5 hours of driving...to arrive to a desk receptionist asking me if I would be OK with a room without electricity. When I said no...I was given a smoking room which was dingy. The curtains were held up...until they weren't...by a piece of string. The TV did not work and due to the staff's lack of desire to help I didn't even ask for help with it. The hotel was overran by kids, the food was below average and the internet was anything but "high-speed". The Thermal pools were decent however out-dated....much like the hotel
