There will always be great, good and ok parts to any stay. This home was no exception. The greatest part was definitely the pool! It was the right size for the house so we could all have fun! The hot tub was also great! Everybody enjoyed the game room. The house itself was good. It looked like the pictures but had some wear n tear to it. Rooms were large and our group had tons of space. The ok came with bathroom outlets which did not work and outdoor furniture on the decks and pool that looked broken and unsafe for the little kids. We did text our contact at the management company to make them aware for the next guests. It wasnât an emergency situation so I donât fault them for not responding. We did need some additional supplies such as dish towels and sponges for the kitchen. There is a Dollar General nearby so that was also ok.
Sounds Good to Me was a very ideal beach house for our combined friends and family vacation. We had four different families stay in this house and there was plenty of room either to gather all together in one great room consisting of a dining area, kitchen, and living room, or separate into smaller groups and play pool, or go in the hot tub or swimming pool. The beach was a short walk away, it took us about 15 minutes to walk there with little ones in tow; there is a beach access path across the street and around to the corner of the neighborhood. The community has two of its own accesses to the sound. The house was clean, newly carpeted, and the kitchen was decently stocked with necessary pans, pots, dinnerware and small appliances, as well as 2 outdoor charcoal grills, if you are planning to cook all week, which we did, the kitchen was very accommodating for cooking and eating for/as a large group. Also very convenient at the house were 3 bikes which got very well used by the kids in our crew. Everyone in our group agreed that this house could easily become a yearly summer tradition just because it has so many great bonuses to accommodate rainy days at the beach as well as those perfect sunny days!
The only suggestions or negative feedback we have is that the dryer in the house did not work very well at all, even after removing as much lint in the trap that I could, it took 3xâs longer than it should to dry our loads, and also the bathrooms are all very tiny, esp. the MBs
House in bad need to deep clean and major update. Hot tub and pool were nice amenities
We booked this house last minute when another trip got cancelled and we needed a place for a large group of people to vacation together. The price was right, but you get what you pay for. The pictures are somewhat deceiving as they make the rooms look larger and furniture newer. We had never been to the Outer Banks and so I was not educated on the different areas. Salvo is a less touristy area, a good 40 minute drive from Nags Head and 50 minutes to Kill Devils Hills where shopping and restaurants are plentiful. Near the house your choices are much more limited. The closest grocery store is 20 minutes south although there is a dollar general within walking distance. We found one restaurant with good food, Watermanâs, which was right on the sound. The house is located on the sound side, which means you have to walk across the the road and a few blocks to get to the beach. The closest beach access was a sandy trail, which made it difficult to pull a wagon full of beach gear. It was a ten minute drive to an access with a boardwalk. The house is located right off the main road that runs north and south. It is also next to a business that rents things so you have a fair amount of traffic noise. While the layout of the house is nice with three of the bedrooms having private baths, it is badly in need to a remodel. The living room furniture is old, smelly and worn. A lamp table in the living room is broken. Some of the dressers are ancient and donât have drawers that move in and out easily. The kitchen cabinets are dirty. The frying pan is warped, and it would have been nice to have a few more glasses as we ran out frequently. Blender and toaster were adequate. The electric griddle was handy to have. The air hockey table is broken. A work order to surf or sound realty to have it repaired was never fulfilled. The mattresses were acceptable, but the comforters looked like they needed a washing. Not only do you have to provide sheets and towels, but the bathrooms donât even have rugs or bath mats. The washing machine and dryer worked but are definitely older. The basement bedroom with the bunk beds didnât even have a curtain rod for the drapes and the mattresses were in sad shape. Many of the accent pillows were old and dirty. The blinds in the living room are broken and are missing the handle that allows you to open and close them. The air conditioning seemed to work well. On a positive note, the pool is large and was clean. The hot tub was nice also
This property was amazing! The overall experience was great. Only negative was the rental agency was tricky to get on the phone while we were planning the trip.
We loved the property. Plenty of space for all 11 of us to spread out giving us space from each other when needed. The place was clean and I would stay there again. The family loved the pool and hot tub. The property needs some updates, but then most properties do. Especially new beds that are comfortable and don't squeak.
