Deck outside of office/dining building needs to be redone ASAP. Safety hazard. A lot of holes and rotten wood. As someone that has built decks I would recommend Treks as a replacement.

Close enough to the beach without the crowds/noise

Our multi-night stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Grover Beach had many positives, though it was slightly let down by a lack of attention to detail in room cleaning. The check-in process was a highlight. The front desk clerk was incredibly friendly and efficient, making for a warm and welcoming start to our visit. We also appreciated the ample parking available throughout our stay; the lot was well-lit at night, and we always felt safe and secure. Initially impressed by its large size. However, a closer look revealed some housekeeping oversights. We found some small trash left by a previous guest tucked beside the sofa and floor , and a noticeable amount of sand remained inside by the balcony door throughout our entire stay, despite daily room service. While the main areas seemed clean, these details gave the impression that the cleaning was rushed. Another minor issue was the very bright, always-on light on the balcony. Even with the blackout curtains closed, it prevented the room from getting truly dark for sleeping. On a positive note, the complimentary breakfast was exactly what you'd expect from a Holiday Inn Express. It offers a reliable and convenient selection of hot and cold items to get the day started. Overall, this is a good hotel with a fantastic staff and great amenities like easy parking. If management could improve the attention to detail in housekeeping, it would easily be a five-star experience.
