Do NOT book here and if you have a reservation already, cancel it! We left after 1 night because the resort was not at all what was described on the website. The manager had claimed that they could not issue a refund because they never received the funds through hotels.com. When I contacted hotels.com, they said that the hotel had to approve the refund - radio silence from Turtle Island since then and no full refund. Spent over $1500 and they only approved a refund for the commuter flights that they had charged us for but I had to pay for at the airport.
There are major concerns (including safety concerns).The only way to get to Turtle Island is through a boat ride and they only have 1 boat and 1 captain who works 7 days per week. The boat is giving guests rides at night time and it only has 1 working light. The captain said that he had informed management of this, but it went “in one ear and out the other.” That is absolutely unacceptable and a major risk to staff and guests. Additionally, there is limited staff, limited food, no chef on site, stained sheets, hot water ran out, and they charged us for a local flight that was not used to purchase tickets. The staff is great but they are overworked by the new management. Seems like this place was well run before new management took over 2 months ago, and it’s clear that the new management have no experience in hospitality. We were not informed of change until we arrived and looked at recent reviews. Save yourself the headache
