We really enjoyed our two night stay at Barcelo Montelimar, primarily for its amazing setting and beach. The resort complex is large and spread out, but is walkable once you learn your way around. Our casita provide a good homebase for our stay, including a private porch with hammock and rocking chairs. Bathroom was basic but functional. Beds were comfortable. We didn't spend much time in the room other than to sleep. The all-inclusive food varied in quality and meal options seemed repetitive. We appreciated the table service. Beachfront was the focus for us--we loved the wide, sandy beach. The water was amazing-- mostly calm with waves large enough for excellent body-surfing without being too intimidating. Could've staying in the water all day. Gorgeous sunsets. Half hour horse rides on the beach for ten dollars. This is a very popular resort, and we would come back again.

Poor room quality, dirty bed/pillows, AC didn’t work, cold water didn’t work, room phone to ask front desk for wake up call didn’t work. Free meals are just as bad as the room quality. Be careful before staying in this place. Only locals like to enjoy this place. Try other beaches before considering this place, but if you don’t have an option… avoid staying in room 215.

Only complaint is there was little to no hot water for the showers. You would have to take a shower before 6 am or after midnight. I am not sure if it was just our bungalow or widespread. The facilities were nice. Nightly entertainment was lively and fun. Guests are encouraged to participate. I would visit again.

The people of nicaragua are very nice people and very caring. A lot of the food was pretty nice besides a few options but that’s ok, i do not expect perfection. Overall the views were amazing, people always welcome you, you always felt safe, and the facilities are well maintained. I would say the price is fair for such a popular place and if you plan to visit nicaragua, it’s a place worth going to. Obviously always research before hand
