Maison de caractĂšre situĂ© dans l'espace du couvent des cordeliers (CrĂ©Ă© en 1280 et s’arrĂȘtant fin 18 eme siĂšcle ) : La façade principale a Ă©tĂ© rĂ©amĂ©nagĂ©e au 18 eme siĂšcle. DerriĂšre les façades l'on remonte sur une large partie au 16 eme siĂšcle. Des restes du moyen age subsistent aussi.
Aménagement moderne avec piscine à l'intérieur de la maison.
Espaces ( plus de 300 metres carrés ), jardin, parking, piscine, chambres de plus de 30 metres carrés, bureau, 2 salons...
En plein coeur de Saumur, 100 metres de la place Saint Pierre et ses nombreux restaurants, au pieds du chateau et avec vue sur lui.
Situation principale de la maison : sud est sud.
A été la maison du premier général de l'école de cavalerie et de la famille Mayaud ayant donné plusieurs maires à la ville de Saumur ( Premier Maire de la famille Mayaud : 1815 )

    Fantastic house in the best location

    Great location and facilities. A very spacious and charming property, great for hide and seek! The games room and pool room were fantastic for our group, the children really enjoyed themselves. Gilles was very attentive and made sure we quickly had extra fans during the very hot weather. A wonderful holiday home!

    We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We couldn’t have been any closer to the main square. It was a good base to explore the chateau’s, vineyards and caves. The swimming pool was lovely. The host was very attentive and helpful

    The property is huge, elegant and centrally located. It is one of a kind! Being so central has one or two challenges, getting my 5m long car into the property being one of them. But then we had shops bars and restaurants a minute away, plus a swimming pool. Highly recommended

    Great location, great property, great host!

    Fantastic property full of history with many rooms to explore. Gilles has renovated the property to a very high standard while keeping its original charm. The location was perfect with bars, cafes and the river just a few minutes walk. We met with Gilles and his wife one night by chance and learned more about the history of the building and it’s familiy connection to Gilles which was fascinating. I would truly recommend Saumur and this fantastic property for a memorable stay.

    Amazing, unusual place. Excellent location. Very quiet despite being a few steps away from a lovely square with cafes etc. Good bedrooms, swimming pool and lovely games room. Great to sit in enclosed yard on a warm day. Plenty of space to park cars but quite a challenge to get one in unless very small. You have to reverse in from the narrow street which we were able to do with someone each side watching to make sure we did not hit the walls during the manoeuvre. Some free parking locally which we were able to use a few times which was useful. Gilles (who was very helpful) said you could also take a local season ticket to park elsewhere, if more convenient.

    Massive thank you to Gilles and his wife for an amazing stay at this property. The photos, whilst accurate, do not do the house justice. It is truly amazing (and huge). We stayed for 2 weeks. Location is perfect, right in the heart of Saumur. Check in was easy and it was lovely to be met at the property and shown around, even when we were much later arriving than anticipated. The house is spotless and has everything you could possibly need. The indoor pool is a rare luxury, considering the location, with the added bonus of a fantastic games room with pool table, pinball and table football. You can never be bored in this house. Communication with Gilles was excellent and he gave great recommendations about what to see in the area. I really can’t rate this house highly enough. I can’t wait to go back.

    The property was lovely. A beautiful view of the castle, nice outdoor area and lots of room. We had 6 adults and an infant with lots of space. The pool was warm. Nice game room with a pool table. Walking to all the good spots in Saumur.

    Perfectly-located, large, comfortable home with historic charm

    Our group of 6 truly enjoyed our stay in Gilles' home in Saumur. The home was large enough to accommodate 6 adults, with spaces to congregate, and also enough space to be by yourself when you need it. The location was perfect, right off Place St-Pierre with its restaurants, cafes, and shops, and also with views of Saumur Castle. Gilles was easy to communicate with and always responsive and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

    Fantastic property in amazing location

    The house was a really special place to stay with beautiful rooms and fantastic facilities. Despite the cool, damp weather outside, the house was lovely and warm with easily controllable radiators - a really pleasant surprise in such an old building. The pool was great and the games room was a real treat - especially for my teenage son and husband! The location is great - just round the corner from the centre of Saumur and all it has to offer. We were able to be at the table of one of the excellent local restaurants in minutes by foot. Gilles was an attentive host and made sure we were enjoying our stay. I would highly recommend!

    A Chateaux in Saumur

    More than most properties - Gille’s sprawling 16th, 17th and other centuries place will mould to your wishes. No heated pool for us and the games room remained quiet. But a wonderful maze with parking for only the Le Mans champs ( like myself). Everything is close and walkable.

    A wonderful experience in a beautiful house in a perfect location

    The house is magnificent, very spacious with great character and has every facilty you could possibly wish for to make a comfortable and relaxing stay.Gilles was a perfect host and made us very welcome. He was attentive but in a discrete and very comfortable manner.The house is in the centre of Saumur and it was very quick and easy to walk to the many good restaurants and shops. The markets on Saturday are close by and well worth visiting. One of the overriding memories we will all have is the view of the beautiful Saumur chateau from the garden and most of the windows. It is breathtaking and just on your doorstep.The pool is magical. A lovely temperaure and just what you need after a hot day sightseeing.We had a great week and if we ever return to Saumur we will defintely be asking Gilles if we can stay at his house again.

    A fascinating property with a history. Fabulous views of the chateau from the bedroom windows and from the courtyard. Right in the centre of Saumur, but had a large heated indoor swimming pool. The extra treat was the pool table and pinball machine. It was easy enough to reverse the cars into the courtyard with practice. It was lovely and convenient for restaurants, the chateau and the bakery. Gilles, our host was at the end of a phone if we needed him. Nicole the housekeeper made us welcome very efficiently and cheerfully. We'd definitely go again.

    Historic home in the city center with view of castle!

    We are two couples in our 70’s who travel together. We have spent 3 1/2 weeks in France and this was the last week of our trip before we return to the US. After visiting Paris, Normandy and the Dordogne we came to the Loire Valley. Visiting so many historic areas we were pleased to spend our time in this wonderful home. We were in walking distance of the square with many wonderful restaurants and shops. We traveled by car to many of the wonderful and impressive Chateaus. This was the perfect location. Very comfortable and had everything we needed. Giles was very attentive to our every need. We have stayed in many VRBO’s around the world and this was definitely one of our favorites!

    Fabulous house well located in delightful town

    As a group of friends who travel together every year we have been lucky enough to stay in lots of great places over the last 30 years. This house was possibly the best of the lot. An amazing old building full of character and really well equipped, located near the centre of Saumur, the house is very charming. The host, Gilles, was friendly and very helpful , checking everything was going OK and offering assistance if needed. The pool is great and with an underwater view of the old house foundations. The bedrooms are large and have great views of the Chateau and Saumur town. The kitchen is very well equipped and great to cook and eat in. We had not been to Saumur before and found it charming and well located for many of the sites in that part of the Loire. I would gladly stay there again.

    Perfect

    Wonderful experience. Villa is hugh! It feels asif you are in a chateau that has been completely modernized and but the charm has been maintained. The kitchen has everything you could need tomake great meals. The 2 living rooms provide privacy and comfort. The heated swimming pool is delightful with a hot water shower near by. There are 20 steps by spiral staircase on either end of the first floor to reach the bedrooms. Showers are beautiful. We had no time to use the game room and we were there for 3 weeks!!!! Location is perfect for exploring the Loire. Saumur itself is 1 block away with great restaurants and shops. OH, the garden with roses is perfect for drinks. Gilles is always available if you need ANYTHING! We were 4 adults. 84, 81, 77, 68. Great vacation.

    A wonderful base for seeing the beauties of the Loire Valley

    We were a group of 8, and the house was more than adequate in size and facilities to accommodate us. The indoor pool and the games room were excellent added features. An well-appointed kitchen meant we could cook several of our meals in the house. The closeness to all amenities (restaurants, bars, cafes, butcher, supermarket, boulangeries, etc) made everything easy to access. Also, a great Saturday morning market for excellent fresh produce. Gilles, our host was excellent, and always on hand if we needed any assistance. It was nice on occasion that he would accept our invitation to have a glass of wine together. We cannot speak highly enough of the wonderful experience we had at the property, and can certainly recommend it highly.
