Cherokee Ridge 5 - Charming Pet Friendly Cottage in the Woods

The colors are calming and the decor soft and cozy. In this open floor plan, you can enjoy the gas fireplace from the couch or the king size bed. A trundle was recently added giving sleeping space for two more guests. The trundle is two twin beds. There is a large flat screen television mounted on the wall that can also be seen from both places. The kitchen is equipped with a full size oven with range, a mid-size refrigerator and a dishwasher. There is also a microwave and a Keurig coffee maker. The bathroom has a full size tub and shower, and you even have a washer and dryer!

Enjoy the evening relaxing in the hot tub on the back porch. Cherokee Ridge 5 is pet-friendly, because we consider them family, too! There is even a doggy gate on the porch so you can truly relax knowing your pet is nearby. A one-time per pet fee will be added if you bring your dog(s). A gas grill is on the porch for those cook-outs you have been planning.

This is a group vacation properties with 3 others along the same road, but you have all the privacy you expect. Perfectly located, you are only 2 miles from Unicoi State Park were there's swimming, hiking and fishing; only 5 miles from downtown Helen. With WiFi available, you can surf the web for all of the fun and exciting things to do in the Northeast Georgia Mountains!

Please note that this is an open floor plan or studio cottage. The television can be seen from both the sofa and the king bed. This cottage does not have private bedrooms.

This is a pet-friendly cabin and a one-time per-pet fee will be added if you bring your dog(s). The pet fees that will be added to your reservation are $75 + tax for the first and $25 + tax for each additional.

Cute getaway

The property was nice for a weekend getaway, close to Helen and lots of sightseeing. We wanted a quiet getaway, which this was. We also wanted a hottub and fireplace, which is why we rented this cabin. The kitchen was well appointed, it had everything you could need to make complete meals, minus the food.The biggest drawback, and our only complaints are in regard to the hottub and the fireplace, both are the primary reasons we rented this particular cabin, both were disappointing. The hottub jets did not work well, and the hottub did not hold a consistent temperature. The outdoor firepit worked well, the indoor fireplace did not work. We were told to jiggle the logs to get it to light, that didnt work, it only extinguised the pilot light, which we were unable to light again. It would have been helpful to have a manual with operating instructions.The cabin in general was basically clean. The floor could have been a little cleaner, or maybe a swiffer left behind so we could touch it up. The cute record player was a nice touch. A fun addition. All in all, we were happy with the rest of our stay at the cabin, it would have been great if everything worked.I recommend this rental if you want a quiet stay. I don't recommend it if you are looking forward to using the hottub or fireplace. We would have saved the extra money and rented a cabin in the state park, or one of the many other cabins for rent, instead.

Start Over!

One good thing: GPS actually took us straight to it! It's secluded and quiet. However, the whole cabin desperately needs a make over. The kitchen needs a new microwave, the fridge had hair in it and needed to be cleaned. ait,angues

Comfortable Mountain Retreat

Cute little cabin on top of the hill. Very private at the end of the dead end. Cabin is well equipped. Television wasn't the best reception, but we weren't there to watch tv. Bring a fire stick or other streaming device and you'll be fine. Great WIFI. Hot tub was nice at night with the gas fire pit going next to it. Close to Helen and Anna Ruby falls.

Tickled pink but had Door difficulty

It was wonderful with the exception of trying to get the door open. The other door knob is taped and it seems that it needs to be opened as well as the knob With the combination on it. It took us several Try’s each time To get into the cabin

Peaceful cabin

Cabin was very clean and well kept! The hot tub was also fantastic after a day of hiking and exploring. Having a cup of coffee on the pirch was devine. I would definitely stay here again in a heartbeat.

Nice cabin has mold in the bathroom

The cabin location was great short distance to Helen GA. We entered the cabin on Oct 27. There was a very musty smell that was overwhelming in the cabin. We purchased some candles/glade plugins. Did not take away the smell. Noticed mold on the ceiling in the bathroom and let the host know. The day bed squeaks a lot. Need a bigger TV. Overall the cabin needs updating especially the floors.

Perfect Mountain Getaway

This property was perfect for our weekend away! It was very clean, easy to find, loved the private location and hot tub in the deck. They were very accommodating and we really appreciated our fur friend being welcomed as well. They left extra towels for him and the gate on the deck was perfect to allow him in and out. We would definitely stay at this property again if we’re ever back in the area! Also, thanks for having a corkscrew in the kitchen for my wine!

Decent for the price

Other properties leading in really gave us a scare! Overall it was a good stay though, TV situation could definitely need an upgrade in size for a late night movie or a Saturday evening ball game while grilling. Wind got up during the night & there was lots of noise from trees or shrubs rubbing the cottage. We was happy to find out it wasn't bears, lol. It ended being a quiet & relaxing weekend.

Perfect Distance to Attractions

Cabin is a quick drive to Helen and the surrounding waterfalls/attractions, but still in quiet area. Management was friendly and helpful. Neither the fireplace or the outdoor fire pit were working, and they sent a nice man to help fix them, he was only able to get the fireplace working. The place is cute in photos, but outdated and bit rundown in person. Floor coming up, kitchen counters broken, older/well used kitchen supplies, inside lock on front door broken, and outdated/over extended electrical outlets. Wasn't horrible, but not the best either. Was Ok for a quick getaway but not impressed enough to rent again.

Cozy, clean& in a great location. Communication with owner was great. Road/drive is quite rough getting in - washed out areas would be difficult to pass in a sedan but doable. This cabin is at the end on the road, quite a remote feel. Bed was comfy, everything we needed was here. Would definitely stay again!

Nice out if the way location

It was nice. The only thing that would have made it better is if there were instructions on how to use the multiple remotes for different devices. The heat/ac unit was a bit if a challenge but thanks to Google I kinda figured it out. Never could figure out the fireplace.

First trip to Helen, GA

Overall great experience, located just out of downtown Helen and made for an easy drive. Very secluded and private feel. Do wish there was more of a view off the back deck would have alot of potential for picture perfect views. Was expecting it to be a lot cleaner based off a previous reviews. Seems to be getting a little outdated. All in all was a great stay would definitely recommend and will probably be back!

Solace Amidst the Mountains

Our stay at this cabin was EXACTLY what we needed and wanted! From the quaint environment surrounding the cabin, to the privacy of neighboring cabins at least 50 feet away, the furnishings, comfort and day-to-day needs were well met. The hot tub was a much-needed and relaxing feature within the serene backdrop of fall leaves. We highly recommend this cabin :)

Some flaws, but great stay

Labor Day Weekend first time to visit Helen area. PROS: Location, only 10+ minutes from Helen, but better for us was proximity to Unicoi State park where we did trails twice. Unit is a bit dated, but very clean. Very private location! Hot tub was nice and propane firepit on porch was perfect. We grilled one night on the propane grill, otherwise didn't really use the kitchen. (Side note, we noticed on check-in day the propane tank was empty, and after a quick email, they had a replacement delivered within the hour! Nice!) CONS: Road leading to unit is gravel and has several washed out areas with deep ruts, we have a Ford Expedition, so could navigate with care, a regular car would have issues IMO. Television, specifically YOUTUBE TV subscription was unusable- seems login information is incorrect for owner's user name/gmail account (password is outdated and was changed 40+ days ago according to error message)- despite repeated emails with responses, this was never resolved since management company stated they would contact owner and we never received a reply with correct password. I was able to watch ESPN via my personal account, but it would have been nice to have more choices for college football viewing. Lastly, and out of their control was issues with power outage twice in one day (4am or so, and then about 4 pm that same day again- most likely due to weather, but they were not heavy storms, just consistent rain. May not be a huge deal, but the afternoon outage was right in the middle of my girlfriend's shower and washing her hair...unfortunately, when the power goes out in this cabin, the water stops flowing as well, leaving her stranded with soapy hair in the dark, and in additional, the toilet fails to fill back up. It was out for 90+ minutes as we needed to be getting ready to go out that afternoon. Very unfortunate timing for sure.
